Messenger Plus Toolbar

If your default home page is changed to search.conduit.com, perhaps you have installed Messenger Plus Toolbar on your computer. It is a browser plugin that is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers, and it is available for download at messengerpluslive.ourtoolbar.com. The functionality of this toolbar is highly questionable, especially as now MSN has officially scrapped its Live Messenger, but that is only one of the reasons why you should seriously consider removing Messenger Plus Toolbar from your system for good. Rather than being a useful plugin it is actually a potentially unwanted program that could be related to malware infections.

Needless to say, that Messenger Plus Toolbar is not a computer infection itself, and it cannot do anything wrong on its own. After all, it is just one of the toolbars from Conduit family that includes such extensions as Television Fanatic toolbar, Freecorder Toolbar, Iminent Community Toolbar and many more. These toolbars are always installed with user’s permission although sometimes the user may not understand that he/she gives personal permission for the installation.

It happens, because sometimes Messenger Plus Toolbar does not come from the official website. Actually, more often than not the toolbar is bundled with freeware applications (like shareware games) that are available at third party websites. Users tend to overlook various setup steps that inform them about additional software being installed, so when you open your browser and your home page is change for search.conduit.com, do not get so surprised. It simply shows that you cannot install anything blindly – always read what the installation wizard has to say.

In case your default home page has been modified, do not panic. These changes can easily be undone, but then again you need to understand WHY Messenger Plus Toolbar cannot be allowed to stay on your computer. With your default home page and default search engine modified you get exposed to a horde of pop-ups and commercial advertisements that are part of pay-per-click system, intended to increase traffic for specific websites. Nevertheless, they may contain links to third party websites that might as well be related to malware distribution. After all, Messenger Plus Toolbar does not review the third party links.

Therefore, it is important that you remove Messenger Plus Toolbar, if you want to protect your system and yourself from harm.
