Search.Conduit

Search.Conduit is a name of a search engine that provides customized search service for Internet users. It is closely related to a number of browser plugins that are developed by Conduit Ltd. It is common to see Search.Conduit being called a "browser hijacker", but this search engine is not related to computer malware. Also, users often complain that their default search engines get changed to Search.Conduit, but that is not exactly true as well. If you want to remove Search.Conduit from your browser, simply scroll down to manual removal instructions below this article.

You are probably wondering how Search.Conduit changes your default home page and default search engine, if it is not a malicious application and yet you do not give your permission to change anything. Well, the truth is that you do. It does not matter where you download a browser plugin that is related to Search.Conduit from. The moment installation process is initiated, you are prompted whether you want to have your search engine and home page changed to search.conduit.com. You can choose to install a browser plugin of choice without having your home page changed. However, a lot of users go through the installation process automatically, without reading the instructions, and thus they end up with the full browser plugin setup, that is rarely to their liking.

So where does Search.Conduit come from? It depends on which browser plugin it is associated with. In general Search.Conduit search engine is packed with each browser toolbar from Conduit family. It includes YA Search Toolbar, Iminent Community Toolbar, Appbaria Toolbar, Z-game Toolbar and many other browser add-ons that can be downloaded at official Conduit homepages that have the ending .ourtoolbar.com. However, that is not the only source for Conduit toolbars. They can also be downloaded from third party websites, bundled with random freeware applications. What is more, Conduit toolbars often come with TuneUp Utilities 2013 which is a free computer optimization application, but our recommendation is to avoid installing this program, because it might slow down your system performance instead of upgrading it.

Therefore, if Search.Conduit is not a computer malware application, why should one remove it? That is so, all the Conduit browser plugins are considered to be potentially unwanted applications. They could be indirectly responsible for malware entering your computer, and the same can be applied to Search.Conduit - if this search engine redirects you to corrupted websites, your system can get compromised. That is the main reason why users are recommended to remove Search.Conduit from their computers.
