Worm.Slogod

Worm.Slogod is an extremely annoying worm that enters the system surreptitiously through removable drives. Although Worm.Slogod is not destructive or a threat to privacy per se, it will mess with a variety of system settings and incessantly annoy its victims. Worm.Slogod is also detected as VBS/Slogod by certain security applications.

The first clue the user will have as to the actual infection and presence of Worm.Slogod on his system will come from the worm executing MS Notepad. It will then display an IT themed parody of the “Our Father” prayer in the French language. It will also disable the system’s Autorun setting for removable drives and it will disable the “File” drop down menu for all system folders. This annoying worm’s actions do not stop here. It will go on to disable System Restore as well. Worm.Slogod will hide or deactivate various computer settings, options and tabs such as the “Documents” shortcut on the Start Menu, or the Hardware tab for the Sounds and Multimedia and the Keyboard and Mouse on the Control Panel, etc.

The worm also frequently empties the recycle bin without the user’s knowledge or any action from the user being required. It will also close the Command Prompt when executed. The PC’s mouse setting will be edited and the user will be barred from changing or restoring those settings again. The worm will load screensavers too while the user is busy using the system.
