Smart Engine

Smart Engine is the new nickname for the rogue security antivirus tool called My Security Shield. Although it comes in a different name, it is still the same damaging parasitic tool. Smart Engine, like My Security Shield is known by its vicious propensity to cripple PCs by blocking internet connections and disabling security software already present on the system.

This is all performed in an effort into bullying the consumer into buying these bogus security tools. Users can infect their PCs with Smart Engine by visiting illicit websites. Some sites will say the user needs to download codec and flash updates. Once the user downloads these updates he will effectively infect his PC with the harmful Trojan. Instead of being able to view videos the user will receive incessant popup messages. The body of these fake popup security alerts will read as follows:

"System Alert
malicious applications, which may contain Trojans, were found on your computer and are to be removed immediately. Click here to remove these potentially harmful items using Smart Engine."

"Warning
Warning! Virus detected
Threat Detected: Trojan-PSW.Win32.Delf.d"

"System Alert
Firewall has blocked a program from accessing the Internet.
Internet Explorer
C:Program FilesInternet ExplorerIexplore.exe
Lsas.Trojan-Spy.DOS.Keycopy is suspected to have infected your PC. This type of virus intercepts entered data and transmits it to a remote server. Data interception was detected while visiting a website."

These messages will report on fake security threats on the PC. The user will then be informed that Smart Engine exclusively is able to remove these threats, and will be redirected to a payment portal to complete the transaction.

Users should keep in mind that Smart Engine has no ability to remove any threats or infections, and cannot protect a PC from any threats or intentions. In order to effectively and permanently remove Smart Engine, action needs to be taken. Make use of legitimate security tools to completely get rid of Smart Engine for good.
