My Recipe Finder

My Recipe Finder is an extension that is meant to help you access recipes from the New Tab page of your web browser. It, supposedly, presents “a curated list of some top recipes in a stylistic list.” Of course, this extension was built by Eightpoint Technologies Ltd., and so it is not at all surprising that it does not exactly meet the expectations of its users. This potentially unwanted program (PUP) can be downloaded from chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/my-recipe-finder/afibfmggjaicolcdflippmefidkngmga, but the rating of this extension on the Chrome Web Store is 1.3 star (out of five). This says a lot. The reviews also indicate that users do not find the extension useful. The official website of the PUP is printmyrecipes.com, and, in theory, this is where Mozilla Firefox users should be able to download the extension from, but at the time of research, the installer did not work. Did you obtain the extension from somewhere else? Did you find it bundled along with third-party extensions and programs? Scan your system ASAP to check if there is anything for you to delete. In either case, remove My Recipe Finder.

Since My Recipe Finder is linked to the same company that stands behind My Email Checker Tab, Quick Search Tool, Get Search Plus, or PDF To Pro, it is not surprising that these extensions all look the same. They always change the New Tab page, and they always introduce a search box in the center. This search tool always redirects to Yahoo Search, and the results shown are always modified. Due to this, the search service presented by My Recipe Finder is not trustworthy. It is no secret that the creator of the PUP works with third-party advertisers, and it is hard to say what kinds of intentions these parties might have. For all we know, they could have malicious ones, and the links that the PUP injects on their behalf could route to not so reliable websites. If you have reviewed the Privacy Policy at legal.hmyrecipefinder.co/Home/Privacy?, you must know that the PUP’s creator “may share your Personal Information with third parties in many ways and for many reasons,” and that they have partnered with undisclosed “advertisers and advertising networks to place ads on and through our Services.” To many, this is enough reason to delete the PUP.

Even though it is evident that My Recipe Finder cannot really be trusted, some people might find it tolerable. Once hp.hrecipeandwebsearchassistant.com replaces the New Tab page, easy-access links to such websites as foodnetwork.co.uk, totalrecipesnetwork.com, dketodiet.trimdownclub.com, ubereats.com, noom.com, recipeland.com, eatingwell.com, grubhub.com, doordash.com, and postmates.com are presented at the top. Undoubtedly, this is a collection of some of the most popular recipe and food delivery websites, but that does not mean that My Recipe Finder is useful. First of all, you can access these websites after you delete the potentially unwanted program. You also can create a bookmarks folder and bookmark all of these websites for easy access. If you are still thinking that it is okay to keep the extension installed, think once more if you can really trust the PUP’s partners, if you want your searches modified and ads included, if you want the PUP tracking and sharing your personal information, and if you really want to find a list of websites at the top of your browser that you cannot personalize.

If you decide that you want to delete My Recipe Finder, we can propose two different solutions. One of them is the manual removal of the PUP. Although the extension did not work on Firefox at the time of research, we have created manual removal guides for both Chrome and Firefox browsers. As you can see, these guides show not only how to eliminate unwanted extensions but also how to clear browsing data. Take these steps to eliminate cookies and clear cache. Another solution is to have the PUP removed automatically, and for that, you need to implement anti-malware software. We strongly recommend installing this software because besides eliminating threats and PUPs, it also can secure systems and browsers. Remember that if you do not have a reliable security tool guarding your system, it is only a matter of time before much more serious threats invade it.
