Ultra Tab is introduced as a beneficial extension that, supposedly, can provide you with a “stylish browsing” experience. The extension is meant to “take your browser up a notch,” and it should present you with “relevant results” when you use it. Then why is it classified as a potentially unwanted program – PUP? Our team has analyzed the suspicious app, and it has been found that it uses a well-known search engine to, potentially, present third-party links. Some users will see no harm in that, and they might decide to keep this extension installed. Others will realize that it is useless, and they will delete it without delay. If you are not sure yet if you want to remove Ultra Tab or if you want to continue using it, please keep reading our report, and you will be able to make an informed decision. If you do not want to waste time because you already have decided to get rid of the extension, scroll down to the last section, where we discuss several different techniques that can be employed.
According to our research team, once Ultra Tab is installed, the default search provider is changed to ultra-search1.com. The New Tab page is modified also to represent the same search tool. What is special about it? At first glance, it looks like any normal search engine. The interface displays a clock, a search dialog box, and also a few easy-access links to such popular websites as facebook.com, twitter.com, instagram.com, and also tumblr.com. This might make you feel comfortable and entice you to use the search tool. Well, if you enter keywords into the search box, you are routed to search.yahoo.com. Are you familiar with this search engine? Even if you do not use it on a daily basis, you might know of it, and that might make you think that the service is trustworthy. In reality, it is not because Ultra Tab injects sponsored links. The results you see are modified, and if you used Yahoo Search without the PUP, you would see different results. Basically, the PUP does not offer a useful or trustworthy service, and that is why we recommend deleting it from Google Chrome without delay.
Do not worry if you feel inexperienced because you should be able to delete Ultra Tab even if you have no skills or previous experience. We have created a guide – see below – that is easy to follow, and once you are done completing all of the steps, you should have the unwanted extension gone. You also should have browsing data cleared, which is an additional step we recommend taking to ensure that there are no traces of the PUP and its services left behind. Overall, this is a great solution to those who only have Ultra Tab to worry about. If you installed this PUP along with other threats – which could have happened if you used third-party downloaders – you might need the help of anti-malware software. Do not hesitate to install it because besides ensuring complete removal of threats (including the PUP), it also can ensure full system’s protection, which you absolutely need.
