StreamBrosSearch

StreamBrosSearch is a Chrome extension that can be downloaded for free from the Chrome Web Store (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/streambrossearch/ldefepbdmfghdmkmokiekocflkbgcjhi). It is introduced as a “single purpose extension,” and that single purpose is to provide users with a search tool. There is no mention of streaming, and that is because such service is not included. Does that mean that the name is misleading? At the end of the day, any name can be applied to any tool, but yes, this name appears to be misleading. The same can be said about BestPDFSearch, SportsHDSearchs, AllConvertersSearch, and all other “single purpose extensions.” Were they created by the same people? Considering that they work and look the same, and also follow the same privacy policy, that could be the case. Even if multiple parties are involved, deleting these extensions is recommended. In this report, we focus specifically on the removal of StreamBrosSearch, and if that is what you are interested in, keep reading.

According to our research team, Google Chrome users might be introduced to StreamBrosSearch as they are redirected to get.streambrossearch.com. If that happens, what website were you redirected from? Perhaps it is unreliable? Bundled installers could be used as well to promote this PUP (potentially unwanted program). At the end of the day, whether you installed it from the Chrome Web Store, or you do not remember installing it, caution is important. When you install this extension, feed.streambrossearch.com replaces your normal search provider, which automatically changes how you search the web. When you type keywords into the address bar, you might expect to see a unique search results page, but the PUP actually redirects to Yahoo Search. Whether or not you are familiar with it, you might consider the results to be trustworthy just because of the reputation of this search engine. Unfortunately, that is what might drive a wedge between you and safe browsing. The results you see are modified, and that is our main reason for recommending the removal of StreamBrosSearch.

StreamBrosSearch reads your browsing history to know exactly what you are searching. This can help present more attractive sponsored links. The ones you would click. It is unknown whether the creator behind the PUP earns money for ad space or for the clicks that are made. In either case, it is obvious that the PUP is not actually a search tool. It acts more like an advertising tool, and we doubt that many Google Chrome users are interested in that. If StreamBrosSearch showed truly interesting and useful ads, perhaps we would use a different tone. However, how this PUP presents sponsored content is completely unpredictable, and even the parties using this service are unknown. Most likely, trusting this suspicious extension is a bad idea, and so we do not recommend it. So, do you want to delete it? Whether or not that is the case, we suggest installing your operating system as soon as possible. If no threats exist, you will have wasted a few minutes, but that is not a big price to pay. If threats are found, perhaps you will be able to delete them before anything bad happens.

You do not need to know how to remove unwanted extensions or know how to solve complicated problems within your browser to delete StreamBrosSearch successfully. It can be eliminated just like a normal unwanted extension, and if you follow the guided below, you will always know how to delete unwanted extensions in the future. This could be very helpful if you happen to face PUPs in the future. If you do not want that to happen, you need to be cautious about what you install. It is also a good idea to employ anti-malware software that could guard you against malware and also PUPs in the future. If you implement it now, it should automatically delete the existing PUPs too. That being said, while security software can help, it is your responsibility to practice caution and always do research before installing extensions, programs, files and before using new services.
