SearchGamez

You might assume that SearchGamez is a tool that can help you find games online, but the name of this extension is definitely misleading, and if you install it, all you will face is an unreliable search tool. It does not perform game-specific searches, and it appears to have been set up for promotional purposes only. The problem is that it redirects to Yahoo Search, which many people recognize as a perfectly reliable search tool. Well, the extension does not just simply redirect to search.yahoo.com. When it does that, it also modifies the results that are introduced to you. This is the main reason we recommend removing SearchGamez from Google Chrome. If you continue reading, you will find other reasons for that too. Should you decide to delete the extension manually, we have created a guide that should make things easy. If you are looking for an alternative solution, continue reading. Take note of the comments section below, which you can use to contact us and ask questions.

SearchGamez is pretty much identical to SearchConverterHD, SearchOpedia, Rolling Search, Sealoid, and many other extensions that share the same interface and that redirect to the modified Yahoo Search results. According to our team, all of these extensions are PUPs (potentially unwanted programs), and that is because they are both unreliable and useless. In most cases, Google Chrome users can find these extensions on the Chrome Web Store, and it was found by our research team that SearchGamez is promoted at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/searchgamez/cpieliioldegdicikophgdjeihccjgfg. Is this where you downloaded the PUP from? You could have been introduced to the installer via a pop-up or a redirect. Alternatively, you could have been introduced to the installer of this PUP via a third-party downloader that could have attached it to other suspicious pieces of software. Do you think that other threats exist on your system? Even if you do not think that, this is the perfect time to inspect your operating system thoroughly. Install a reliable malware scanner, and it will let you know if you need to delete the PUP along with other threats.

If you have already installed SearchGamez, you must have discovered changes within your browser already. According to our research, portal.search-gamez.com should be set as the New Tab page, and feed.search-gamez.com should take over the default search provider. This is why some people might identify it as a browser hijacker. While the interface of the search tool introduced via the New Tab page presents free converters and a calculator, it is believed that the main reason SearchGamez was created was to introduce users to Yahoo Search. As we discussed already, the results are modified, and that is done to promote the content of unknown third parties. Because these parties are unknown, it is hard to say whether or not they can be trusted, and that makes the modified results extremely suspicious. It is also suspicious how the PUP tracks user information and how it can share it with the advertising partners to help them maximize interaction with the displayed ads.

Do you want to have your virtual activity recorded and shared with unknown parties? Do you want to be redirected to the modified Yahoo Search results every time you browse the web? If you do not, we recommend that you delete SearchGamez from your Google Chrome browser. You should have no trouble deleting this potentially unwanted program using the guide below even if you have no previous experience with PUPs and their removal. However, we do not recommend using this method if you have scanned your system and found other threats. Of course, you can address every threat individually, but it might be better to implement a tool that could delete all of them at once. We are talking about an anti-malware tool that, besides ensuring full-time system’s protection, can also perform the full removal of existing threats. Hopefully, you know exactly what you want to do next, but if you continue to feel lost or confused, remember that we can continue this discussion in the comments section.
