AppGo LiveSearch

AppGo LiveSearch is an extension that is meant to help you “search directly from your address bar.” If you know how your Google Chrome browser works at least a little bit, you know that this extension is worthless. You already can search the web via the address bar because some kind of a search tool must be set as a default search provider. If you are not content with that provider, we suggest replacing it in the “chrome://settings/searchEngines” menu. Enter the path into the address bar, and you will be routed to the menu. If you install the suspicious extension, it will do nothing good for you. Instead, it will introduce you to unreliable search results, and information about you will be tracked and shared with unknown parties. Personal information could be tracked and shared too! Due to these reasons, we strongly recommend removing AppGo LiveSearch in case you have installed it already. If you are still thinking about installing this PUP (potentially unwanted program), do not, or you will have to delete it later.

It is hard to say who exactly created AppGo LiveSearch. If you are introduced to this suspicious extension via chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/appgo/geannngklllmmejpjobabpijimgaahff (Chrome Web Store), you are informed that it is offered by “Free Download Media,” but there is no link. If you click the Privacy Policy link that is presented below the app’s description, you are routed to the statement introduced by SEARCH TECHNOLOGY LIMITED. It is unlikely that you have installed AppGo LiveSearch from the Chrome Web Store, simply because the description of the extension is not attractive at all. However, if you did, you must know that it can read your browsing history. In fact, it can do more than that. The Privacy Policy informs that the extension can collect information about you to deliver services, perform research and analysis, tailor advertisements according to your interests, and communicate with you. The statement also informs that personal information can be shared with “authorized service providers” and “business partners.” Obviously, if you do not want personal info leaked to unknown parties, you must delete the PUP.

Most likely, Google Chrome users would let AppGo LiveSearch in via software bundles or when they are introduced to it via misleading advertisements and unauthorized redirects to the installer page. Once installed, it is meant to change the default search provider to search-7.com/search.php?q. If you trust Google Search, you could be tricked into using AppGo LiveSearch carelessly. That is because when you enter keywords into the address bar, you are shown modified Google Search results. You might find them normal-looking, but they could include sponsored links, advertisements, and links that could potentially route to unreliable websites as well. At the end of the day, not much is known about the advertisers working with the PUP, and so it is impossible to say whether the links/advertisements they promote can be trusted. But do you want to take risks for a tool that does not offer anything beneficial? We are sure that you do not, and so let’s move on to discussing the different removal options you’ve got.

Was AppGo LiveSearch installed on its own or bundled with other programs or extensions? That is important to figure out because you do not want to ignore hidden threats. Even if you believe that malicious infections do not exist, we strongly recommend implementing a trusted malware scanner to help you examine your operating system. Needless to say, if multiple threats are found, it is a good idea to install a legitimate ant-malware tool to delete all threats automatically. If all you need to do is delete AppGo LiveSearch, the guide below should help you do that manually. If you do not do this, every search you perform will redirect you to a suspicious search engine with sponsored results, and information about you and your activity will be recorded. If you have questions about the PUP, its removal, or your browser’s security, do not hesitate to leave them in the comments section below. Our researchers will get back to you as soon as possible.
