Were you redirected to, or did it hijack your Google Chrome browser, and now you face it every time you launch the browser? In any case, you cannot trust this search engine because it is set to redirect you to a third-party search engine and then show modified results that are likely to include sponsored links from unknown advertisers. Our research team identifies this search tool as a browser hijacker because it has been found to modify browser settings without permission or using tricks. Even if you agreed to have your homepage and default search provider replaced, you should not trust this search tool. Why? There are several reasons for that, and we introduce them to you in this report. If you need no explanation as to why you should delete the hijacker, follow the instructions below. Once you remove, we also advise that you take a good look at how you yourself browse the web and install new extensions and programs, so as to avoid facing threats and hijackers in the future.

Let’s start from the beginning. is closely associated with an extension named FlashIt. At the time of research, an official download page for this suspicious, potentially unwanted program did not exist, but we know that in the past it was introduced to Google Chrome users via the Chrome Web Store – At the time of our research, this installer was taken down, and that already says a lot. According to the Privacy Policy associated with, RoketMedia is the developer of the search engine. If that is the case, it must be the developer of the FlashIt extension as well. Not much is known about this company, but the Privacy Policy has revealed that it is associated with third-party advertisers and that it shares some of the user-related information with these advertisers. The information is recorded using cookies, and that is why the removal guide below includes steps that show how to clear browsing data. That is the quickest way to get rid of browsing cookies. Unfortunately, some people might not realize that the seemingly harmless search tool they are using is actually a threat.

Once FlashIt is installed, takes over. The interface of this engine is not suspicious in any way. In the center, you have a search dialog box. Below it, you have links to a few popular sites, including,,,,, and If you click these links, you are routed to the real websites. However, if you enter search keywords into the dialog box, you are redirected to Bing Search. What is wrong with this search engine? There is nothing wrong with it, but when redirects to it, it modifies the results you see. That is how it is capable of injecting advertisements. Therefore, if you use the hijacker to surf the web, you are likely to face potentially unreliable ads without even realizing it. Bing has nothing to do with what you see, besides its own curated results. It certainly is not responsible for the ads that the hijacker injects. Can you avoid potentially unreliable ads? You might be able to do that. Is it possible that the hijacker would inject legitimate, harmless ads? That is possible too, but do you really want to take a gamble?

You do not need to know everything there is to know about browser hijackers to successfully delete from your Google Chrome web browser. In fact, it looks like all you need to do is delete the unwanted extension and then clear browsing data. Of course, whenever a threat is found, the entire operating system must be examined. A trusted malware scanner can automatically check every nook and cranny within your system to see whether there are any threats or threat components.
