Convert Your File Now

If you are constantly converting files, Convert Your File Now is an extension that you might think is useful. Well, if you are converting frequently, you should find an online service or a downloadable program that works and can be trusted. This extension, unfortunately, does not appear to be completely transparent or trustworthy. Google Chrome users are introduced to it at convertyourfilenow.net and the Chrome web store (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/convert-your-file-now/dgmkpghjiegfhmjanonlklngdinjoiea/), and it is described as a tool that can offer great services. The tool is meant to help you “Search and access popular converter quick links instantly with free web search from your new tab page.” Clearly, the extension does NOT convert files. Instead, it offers links to third-party sites where you can actually convert files. Due to this, the extension is basically useless. That, however, is not the only reason to remove Convert Your File Now. We are not claiming that you must delete this extension, but there are reasons why you might want to do that. Continue reading to learn about it.

Convert Your File Now is part of the Eightpoint Technologies Ltd. family, and a few other supposedly helpful extensions that are comparable to it include Email Search Tools, Your Search Tool, Find A Flight Pro, Breaking News Plus, and many others. All of these extensions offer links to legitimate third-party websites to offer what the users want, and that is why all of them are identified as potentially unwanted programs. PUPs are usually detected by security tools, and users are advised to delete them. The reality is that a program is not automatically malicious just because it offers something relatively useless. Convert Your File Now can be identified as a threat by anti-malware tools because it also tracks information about its users, shares data with unknown parties, and also advertises by exploiting a well-known search tool that people generally trust. Once you install the extension, it asks for permissions to read and change data on the websites you visit, change the New Tab page, read browsing history, and also manage other apps, extensions, and themes is undisclosed ways. This is very intrusive for a program that is only meant to help you convert files, and that is exactly why most users choose to delete this PUP.

When Convert Your File Now changes the New Tab page on Google Chrome, it might seem as if it has hijacked the homepage as well. That is because the New Tab page might be set up to open on startup. You can adjust these settings via chrome://settings/. The interface of the PUP reminds of a search engine, and while the center of the page is dedicated to a search dialog box, the pseudo bar at the top shows links to third-party sites. This is where you should find links to sites, where you can convert files. You should also see links to News and Email-related websites. The search box in the center can be used to browse the web, but we suggest keeping away from it. If you enter keywords into it, you will be routed to Yahoo Search, but the results could be modified to include ads, and interacting with those could be risky. Yahoo is not responsible for what Convert Your File Now injects, and so you need to be very careful. In general, if you end up liking the third-party services for file converting, bookmark the websites and delete the PUP because it is too suspicious to trust.

At the time of research, only Google Chrome users had to worry about the removal of Convert Your File Now. However, if you find that you want to remove the potentially unwanted program from a different web browser, do not hesitate to leave a comment below. We will adjust the removal guide below. The good news is that deleting Convert Your File Now is fairly simple, and the only other thing you need to do is clear browsing data to ensure that strange cookies are not set in place to track information about you. If you downloaded the PUP along with other strange programs or extensions – which could be the case if you executed a bundled downloader – we recommend installing a trusted anti-malware program. It will inspect your system, identify threats/PUPs, and will perform removal automatically. Another reason to install such a program is to enable complete Windows protection.
