Login to My Email

Login to My Email is a Google Chrome extension that you could have installed hoping that it would offer beneficial services. The description on logintomyemail.net claims that you would “get access to your email anytime” using the extension, but even though it is not completely useless, it is not useful either. That, in fact, is the first reason we identify it as a PUP – potentially unwanted program. According to our research team, this extension is part of the Mindspark Toolbar family, but the name of the developer could be entirely different. That is because once a company/developer gets incredibly bad reputation, they quickly rebrand themselves and add a new name to hide a little bit. Of course, cybersecurity experts have no trouble defacing such companies and revealing clones of seemingly unique programs or extensions. As you might have figured out by now, we recommend removing Login to My Email, and if you want to learn about this, please continue reading.

While the official download website for Login to My Email exists, at the time of research, the download button was inactive. When it worked, it must have routed users to the Chrome web store, which is usually where the launchers of Chrome-compatible PUPs can be found. That is the case with My Email Checker Tab, Email Access Here, and tons of other extensions that are very similar to Login to My Email itself. Unfortunately, it appears that this PUP could also be spread via bundles, which you could be introduced to via unreliable websites or misleading pop-ups. If you have downloaded the extension along with something else, we strongly recommend that you scan your operating system without any delay. The worst thing that could happen is that the scanner would find dangerous infections, and you want to remove them as soon as possible, so that you could, hopefully, prevent them from doing dangerous things. If the PUP is the only threat found, should you really worry about it? Well, whether or not you decide to delete this add-on depends on your own understanding of virtual security.

Once you install Login to My Email, search.logintomyemail.net is set as the New Tab page on your web browser. This is a search engine that offers easy-access links to some email-related sites. That is the only beneficial thing about the extension. It also offers easy-access links to a few popular websites, but that is about it. The reality is that it is unlikely that Login to My Email was made to be very useful. Instead, it was made to introduce users to the PUP’s search service. According to our malware experts, when you enter search keywords into the search.logintomyemail.net search dialog box, you are redirected to Yahoo Search at search.yahoo.com, and the results could be modified. Basically, unknown parties could inject links that could route anywhere. Needless to say, interacting with such links could be very risky. What if you like Yahoo Search? That means that you can keep the PUP, right? Well, you can do whatever you want, but we recommend removing the extension, setting Yahoo Search as your homepage or search provider, and also bookmarking email login pages for easy access.

Is Login to My Email an incredibly dangerous threat? It is not. Is it trustworthy? It is not. Although we usually like to see the world in black or white, there’s more grey than either black or white, and this PUP falls into the grey zone as well. It can be useful in some sense, but it also can redirect to a well-known search engine to show sponsored results. Also, it can track information about users and maximize the chances of third parties getting clicks on their suspicious links in search results. All things considered, we recommend deleting Login to My Email from Google Chrome, and we have just the right guide for you. Follow the steps below, and you will have this PUP removed manually. This, of course, is not the best option if you have found other PUPs or threats, in which case, it might be time to use the help of anti-malware software. It will automatically delete everything that needs it, and you will also be able to forget about fending off PUPs and malware in the future because the software will take care of it too.
