Twisted Search

If you downloaded Twisted Search by webcoapps onto your Google Chrome web browser, your default search must have changed. The PUP (potentially unwanted program) changes it to feed.twistedsearch.com so that you could be introduced to the search results that webcoapps wants you to see. This company has cleverly employed Yahoo Search to deliver sponsored search results, and because this search tool is still one of the most popular ones in the world today, many users of the extension could assume that the results shown to them can be trusted completely. Well, if you interact with the results shown to you, you could end up visiting websites that either have nothing to do with your search queries at all or are promoting questionable services, products, and content. This is why it has been identified as a PUP. If you cannot wait to remove Twisted Search, check out the manual removal guide below. If you want to learn more about the extension first, continue reading.

The suspicious Twisted Search can be downloaded for free from the Chrome web store at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/twisted-search/mkclgclbnocabeapedfmpefjopfgcaof. Just recently, users could download the extension from install.twistedsearch.com, but at the time of research, this website did not work properly, and it rerouted to strange third-party websites that asked to enable/show notifications. As a side note, if you enable/show notifications from unfamiliar sites, you could flood yourself with highly suspicious ads. Well, even if you download Twisted Search in an orderly way, you could still be flooded with ads. Just like SearchZilla, Vista Search, and Searchsio – all of which were created by webcoapps as well – the PUP changes the default search provider. Therefore, when you enter keywords into the address bar, you are routed to Yahoo Search. This search engine has been chosen not without reason. First of all, as we mentioned earlier, it is used and trusted by many people around the world. Second, it can be customized by anyone, which is the only reason the PUP was created in the first place.

Twisted Search can be used to deliver sponsored third-party search results via feed.twistedsearch.com/?q, which is set as the default search provider. To make sure that relevant and attractive links are shown, the potentially unwanted program also tracks your browsing activity. According to the Privacy Policy that supports webcoapps, “a log file, a cookie (session or persistent), web beacons or other related technologies […] collect Non-Personal Information with respect to your activity in connection with our Service.” The statement also informs that personal information can be collected for the purposes of operating the service, recommending content, as well as responding to requests and claims. You can learn more about how your data is collected, used, and shared at webcoapps.com/privacy.html. Needless to say, it is important to check information like that before installing anything new. Hopefully, you remember this in the future, when you decide to install new extensions or programs onto your computer. When choosing the right service or tool to employ, also check out reviews and ratings because they can tell the most about them. Most importantly, be mindful and only select tools and services that you can benefit from.

We do not believe that Twisted Search is useful because although it claims to optimize Yahoo Search, all it can do is modify the results to include sponsored, third-party content. So, if you wish to remove this potentially unwanted program, we strongly recommend that you choose the removal method that fits your situation best. If your operating system and browsers are not protected and/or if other PUPs and even malicious threats exist along with the suspicious extension, our recommendation is that you install a trusted anti-malware program. The moment you install it, all threats will be deleted automatically, and you will be warned about PUPs and threats before they try to invade your system in the future. If you wish to delete Twisted Search manually, follow the guide below. Do not skip the last steps that show how to clear browsing data because you want to delete the cookies that the PUP and its partners could have injected to spy on you and record your browsing activity.
