Weather Forecaster

Weather Forecaster is advertised as an extension that can help Google Chrome users access weather-related information. If you have a favorite weather site, you should bookmark it. That way, you will be able to access it with a click of a button via your browser’s Bookmarks bar. If you like to check multiple different sites just to get the latest weather report, you might think that the suspicious extension is a great tool to add to your browser. Well, it might appear to be useful at first, but there is more than meets the eye. First of all, Eightpoint Technologies is the creator of this potentially unwanted program (PUP), and it is responsible for Find My Nascar Lineup, My Flight Finder Tab, EasyCouponsAccess, and many other suspicious programs alike. Without a doubt, you need to trust the creator of the service you intend to use, and Eightpoint Technologies is not trustworthy. This is not the main reason we suggest removing Weather Forecaster from your browser. If you want to learn about other reasons, and if you need help deleting the PUP, you should continue reading.

At the time of research, Weather Forecaster could not be downloaded from a dedicated website. It is possible that a website has been taken down temporarily, or that it did not exist at all. Nonetheless, the PUP can still be downloaded from the Chrome webstore at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/weather-forecaster/bfhdbclhojfkcjeeglbcnpdncpelbjkc. If you choose to download the PUP from this source, you are informed that the extension can change your new tab page to weatherforecastertab.com, read and change your data, read the browsing history, and also manage undisclosed apps and extensions. Basically, if you install Weather Forecaster, the new tab page starts representing weatherforecastertab.com. The interface of this website makes it look like a search engine. At the top, you can find easy-access links to weather.com, weather.gov, accuweather.com, pollen.com, and myquickmaps.org sites, and so it might seem to serve the intended purpose. Did you download the PUP just so you could be introduced to links leading to different third-party websites? If that is not the case, it is no wonder you want to remove the add-on. Of course, we believe that it is most important to get rid of it for security reasons.

The search engine represented via weatherforecastertab.com by Weather Forecaster redirects your queries to search.yahoo.com (Yahoo Search). The results are processed via query.weatherforecastertab.com, and the end result cannot be trusted. What you see is modified by the potentially unwanted program, and normal search results could appear alongside ads and sponsored links. As you already know, the PUP records browsing history to see exactly what you are interested in, which should influence the content you end up seeing. Shouldn’t you be glad to face personalized content? Well, if you could trust the service provider and the third-party advertisers, this would be okay. However, the provider is very questionable, and we know nothing about the third-party advertisers. According to the Privacy Policy supporting Weather Forecaster, these undisclosed third parties have access to information about you and your browsing habits, and if these parties are unreliable, it is possible that they could use the gathered information to expose you to misleading links. Hopefully, that does not happen to you, but because that is a risk, you should consider deleting the potentially unwanted program.

Do you know how to remove unwanted extensions and clear the browsing data to get rid of cookies that track information about your activity? If you have no idea how to do that, we suggest that you follow the instructions below. We are sure that you will be able to delete Weather Forecaster even if you lack experience with PUPs and their elimination. Afterward, we also recommend performing a further investigation. Are there any other suspicious programs that might require your attention? Perhaps your system is not protected reliably, and you need to implement better security practices to guarantee full-time protection? In that case, we suggest employing anti-malware software. Not only will it secure your system but also erase any PUPs or more dangerous threats that might be found.
