Daily File Converter

Have you ever wanted to convert a file? If you have, you probably scoured the web to find help. Daily File Converter might have crossed your path in that way. The application could have also been presented to you using a free software bundle, or you could have been redirected to its download page via ads or suspicious websites. Officially, the extension – which we classify as a PUP, or potentially unwanted program – is introduced to users at dailyfileconverter.co, as well as the Chrome web store (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/daily-file-converter/ongfoliaholloncjjgkaadofljjaibig). At the time of research, only users who had Chrome and Firefox browsers could install and use the application. That does not mean that you should install the compatible browser just so that you could install and use the free file converter. In fact, our research team recommends removing Daily File Converter. Of course, because the PUP is not classified as a malicious threat, you need to decide if you want to delete it, and the information presented in this report should help you make the final decision.

Once you download Daily File Converter onto the compatible web browser, the New Tab is changed to dailyfileconverter.co/homepage/homepage.html?id=MTI2Mzk&implId=dGhlbWVfcGRmY29udmVydGVy. This page looks like a normal search engine with a toolbar attached at the top. The “toolbar” is meant to offer you access to file-converting tools, and they all belong to cloudconvert.com. Due to this, it appears that the add-on was created for the sole purpose of promoting cloudconvert.com services. Below the search field in the center of the New Tab page, you can find the “CONVERT DOCUMENTS” tool that allows converting files directly from the browser. Our analysts indicate that it works. Although the extension can convert files, you need to think if it is a good idea to keep it installed. You can go to cloudconvert.com to get your files converted at any time, and so the extension kind of loses its appeal. That being said, some users might find the tool convenient, especially because it offers a search service too. When you enter keywords, you are redirected to Yahoo Search. Should you delete Daily File Converter because of that? Although the results that are shown are not modified, you are redirected without warning, and that, to many, is a good enough reason to delete the suspicious, potentially unwanted program.

Reviewing privacy policies is important in any case, and our research team has reviewed the policies presenting Daily File Converter too. They can be found at dailyfileconverter.co/PrivacyPolicy.html. It is revealed that the PUP collects personal information that can include name, email address, home address, telephone number, social security number, etc. Although it is suggested that this data is collected only if you reveal it, you need to be cautious because all information can be shared with third parties, which might include advertisers. All data is recorded using special tools, such as web beacons, identifiers, web server log information, and cookies. While it is possible that nothing bad would happen due to all of this, do you want to take the risk? After all, you do not know if the creator of the PUP can protect recorded data appropriately, or if the parties that obtain this data cannot exploit it in a malicious manner. This might be the number-one reason Chrome and Firefox users choose to delete Daily File Converter.

Is the removal of Daily File Converter complicated? It shouldn’t be. When we analyzed the PUP, its official installer promoted My Search Plus, and it could have introduced you to the same or another unfamiliar program. Of course, if you let the PUP in via a software bundle, you might be dealing with more than just one undesirable piece of software. If you need help identifying threats, you can use a malware scanner. If it is legitimate and up-to-date, you will learn right away if you need to delete Daily File Converter along with other threats. If you do, you might be able to erase them all yourself, but if you cannot, utilize an anti-malware program that can. Another reason to install this program is to have your operating system protected against malware and PUPs in the future.
