Marap

Marap is one of those malicious infections that might be hard to discover if you do not perform regular security scans on your computer. It is a Trojan, and it means that it could perform a variety of tasks on the target system, depending on what the criminals behind the infection want it to do. It might also infect the system with a far more dangerous program, so you need to prevent from happening by removing Marap today. Although it is possible to terminate this infection manually, we would recommend terminating it with a licensed antispyware application.

Marap is classified as a banker Trojan. It should be rather obvious that this infection has been created to steal personal information and other data related to online banking. However, that is not the only thing the program can do. As mentioned, some of its functions depend on what the people behind it want it to do. It shows that while the Trojan is on your computer, it can communicate with its control and command server that is located on a remote server. And so the hackers can send commands to the infection, instructing it to perform a number of tasks.

How does Marap enter the target system? This infection uses the most common ransomware distribution method: spam emails. There are a lot of spam email messages out there that carry malicious attachments. The attached files may often look like regular or important documents, but if a spam email has an attachment, it is very likely that the attached file will infect you with some dangerous program if you open it. Thus, you should be able to avoid this Trojan if you do not open these attachments.

But why do users end up opening such files in the first place? Well, for the most part, they believe that the files are important and they must check the information inside. Also, often these attachments look like shipping invoices and other crucial documents that users might be dealing with on a regular basis. This is especially relevant for company employees who deal with tons of emails every single day. Sometimes potential victims are so used to opening various files, that they do not even question it before downloading and opening a new document. As a result, Marap and other similar infections manage to access victim computers.

If you learn to check the legitimacy of a file before opening it, that would help you avoid multiple infections. The easiest way to see whether the file is safe or not is to scan it with a reliable antispyware application. Thus, do not open any downloaded file automatically. Check it first, and if the scanner does not find anything suspicious, you are free to open the file then.

On the other hand, if Marap enters your system, you probably will not notice anything weird at first. Trojans run in the background of the system, and if they do not take a lot of system resources, users may be oblivious to the infection for a very long time. The problem here is that Marap might download ransomware or keylogger infections, too. So if it downloads a ransomware program, you will notice that immediately. From there, there will be no going back because a ransomware program can encrypt your files, virtually blocking you from accessing them. Hence, you need to take care of this situation before it evolves into something worse.

Please remove Marap from your computer immediately to avoid more severe threats. If you cannot do it on your own, acquire a licensed antispyware application that will locate and remove all the malicious files for you automatically.

Finally, please employ save web browsing habits to avoid similar intruders in the future. Although using a powerful antispyware program is very important, your own online behavior matters a lot as well. No matter how strong of a security tool you might use, if you do not check what you download and you open anything and everything, it is only a matter of time before you get infected with similar threats again.
