WannCrypto V6 Ransomware

WannCrypto V6 Ransomware is a truly ridiculous infection. In fact, it is hard to call it that because it does not really do anything, and it is believed that it will never spread in the wild at all. Of course, because this “infection” exists, we need to warn users about, and we need to discuss it. Our research team has thoroughly analyzed this piece of software – and there was not much to analyze in the first place – and so we can provide you with the latest, most accurate information. It is highly unlikely that this strange program would be upgraded, but if that happens, you can rest assured that our research team will quickly update this report. For now, all we can do is review its pathetic existence. Just in case this program slithers into your operating system, we offer a guide that shows how to delete it. The good news is that removing WannCrypto V6 Ransomware is very easy.

The name of WannCrypto V6 Ransomware suggests that there are at least five other versions that came before the one we are discussing today. We cannot confirm this at this point, and we certainly have not encountered other versions in the past. According to our research team, the infection does not spread at the moment, which is why there is no point in discussing the distribution methods. Of course, if you are curious, most ransomware threats use spam emails and malware downloaders to spread. As soon as our research team started analyzing WannCrypto V6 Ransomware, it became clear that this program does NOT work. In fact, it looks as if this “malware” was created by a child or a complete amateur. The code of the program does not have any functionality, and that becomes clear by looking at the application window launched by it. The timer and the two buttons (“Data Recovery” and “Localbitcoin 0.4BTC Purchase”) below do not work. Speaking of the window, you do not need to wait to remove the infection to disable it. All you have to do is click the “X” on the top-right corner.

The bogus ransom note represented via the WannCrypto V6 Ransomware window makes no sense as well. According to the note, all files would be deleted after 72 hours if “Google Bit Coin” were not purchased. First of all, Google Bitcoin is not a real crypto-currency. At the bottom of the message, two unique sums – “0.9Bitcoin” and “0.3Bitcoin,” which is around $6240 and $280 – are displayed. Of course, there is no information regarding the payment method, and so even if the victim is tricked into thinking that their files are encrypted, they would not be able to pay the ransom. Paying a ransom is never a solution, even if users face real threats, such as National Security Bureau Ransomware, Armage Ransomware, or GandCrab V4, because there is no evidence that that works to decrypt files. Needless to say, you do not need to worry that WannCrypto V6 Ransomware will delete your personal files either. In fact, if this program exists on your PC, the first thing you need to worry about is how to remove it.

WannCrypto V6 Ransomware is incapable of doing any harm, and it does not function as a real file-encryptor. It does not have the power to delete files, despite the claims made via the bogus ransom note. It also does not create any files after execution, which means that the removal process is very simple. Once you close the application window with the fake timer and fake demands, all you need to do is remove the .exe file that launched it. Hopefully, you can find it; otherwise, manual removal is not a good option. While you need to worry about the elimination of the threat, it is most important that you worry about the security of your operating system in the future. This is why it is best to install an anti-malware program. It will automatically delete WannCrypto V6 Ransomware from your operating system. It will do the same if other threats exist. Further on, it will keep your system guarded against malware, and you will not need to suffer the corruption of files or to worry about the removal of real threats.
