Type: Potentially Unwanted Application

FastFormFinder

FastFormFinder might look useful for those looking for various government forms as it promises to provide them. However, the truth is the application only redirects the user to websites offering the needed forms. We have no doubt, knowing the form's title, it should be easy to find the web page where it can be downloaded from by employing a search engine. Another thing is, the application might look handy at the moment, but what about when you no longer need the forms you were looking for, will you still want to see FastFormFinder every time you launch the browser? Our researchers explain the extension could alter the user’s default homepage, search engine, or even new tab page preferences. Because of this, it was decided the tool should be classified as a potentially unwanted program. If you would like to learn more about this doubtful plugin we encourage you to keep reading this article. Also, those who decide they do not want to take any chances with it can erase the extension manually by following the instructions located at the end of this text.

Currently, FastFormFinder still is offered on the Chrome Web Store page as Google Chrome is one of the three browsers the potentially unwanted program appears to be compatible with. It has a rather low rating considering most of the users who voted gave only three stars out of possible five. There are even negative reviews, for example, one of them claimed the application entered the system without the user realizing it. Our researchers say it is entirely possible because the plugin might be spread with bundled software installers too like many other similar potentially unwanted programs. It means the extension could be suggested on some other program’s setup wizard. Unfortunately, users who skip advanced installation settings or pay no attention to the installation wizard may not notice the suggestion and unknowingly agree to receive it. We would advise being more careful in the future, especially if the setup files come from unreliable file-sharing websites since such sites might contain installers bundled with various threats.

As we said earlier, after being installed FastFormFinder might alter some of the user’s browser preferences. Besides, Google Chrome the application is compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox too, and it could affect them slightly differently, although the additional toolbar it may place below the address bar should appear on all mentioned browsers. Another thing we would like to say about the plugin’s toolbar is the links it contains can be bookmarked, which is another reason why we found this tool rather useless. Moreover, while changing the homepage, default search engine or new tab page, the potentially unwanted program could replace them with its search engine called search.searchfff.com. In other words, the browser might start loading search.searchfff.com when the user launches it, opens a new tab, or searches the Internet.

FastFormFinder’s search tool may not look any different from other search engines you were using before, but users should know it is possible it could show modified search results or to be more accurate results injected with third-party advertising. The bad news is, it might be impossible to tell where the ads could come from exactly, which means some of the ads might be potentially dangerous. For example, the ads could lead to sites designed to steal one’s private information or convince the user to download potentially harmful content. Naturally, we think it would be best to avoid such content, and so we advise not to take any chances with FastFormFinder.

Users who do not want to keep potentially unwanted programs on their system should erase the plugin with no hesitation. If you do not know how to eliminate FastFormFinder, you could take a look at the instructions located below this text as they will explain how to get rid of the extension manually. The other way to delete the application is to scan the system with a reliable antimalware tool and press the provided removal button once the scanning is over.
