SearchsmartDS Search

Do not install the Google Chrome browser extension SearchsmartDS if you do not want to find SearchsmartDS Search set on your web browser. This piece of software is not popular yet, but we are sure that some users have already installed it consciously on their computers, and, actually, we do not blame them because this add-on really looks beneficial at first glance. It promises to allow users to “easily search the web for FREE unlimited music, movies and articles.” It sounds like it is a useful application, but, unfortunately, the truth is that it is not what it seems to be. Research conducted by specialists working at pcthreat.com has clearly shown that SearchsmartDS is not 100% trustworthy. It has turned out that it is a typical potentially unwanted program (PUP). These are not harmful programs, but the majority of users find them undesirable and thus decide to get rid of them. On top of that, they often perform undesirable activities. If you need more information about SearchsmartDS and the search tool it sets, you should read the rest of this report. You will find some information about its removal at the end of this article as well.

Once SearchsmartDS affects users’ Google Chrome browsers, it immediately alters their settings. To be more specific, users who install it on their PCs find a new homepage (http://searchsmart.bid/) and search engine (http://search.searchsmart.bid/) set. SearchsmartDS Search does not differ much from ordinary search providers, but you should not keep it set if you know that you are not going to use it, or you have found these changes applied to your web browser undesirable. As has been observed, all users’ searches are redirected to Bing. It is considered a legitimate search provider, but you should still be cautious if you use SearchsmartDS Search to perform web searches because SearchsmartDS might modify it by inserting some sponsored links. In most cases, such third-party links are placed among ordinary search results expecting that users will sooner or later click on them. There is nothing malicious about these links, but, in the worst-case scenario, they might take users to untrustworthy websites. Some of these websites might even promote suspicious software, so our specialists say that users should try to avoid them. Unfortunately, it might not be so easy to do that because these sponsored search results usually look like normal search results. You will be sure that you cannot encounter them only if you stop using SearchsmartDS Search completely. If you decide not to use it to perform web searches, there is no point in keeping it set on browsers either. SearchsmartDS Search can be removed only by deleting the SearchsmartDS browser extension.

As you already know, users find SearchsmartDS Search set on their Google Chrome browsers because they install the SearchsmartDS browser extension. It can be downloaded directly from the Chrome Web Store (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/searchsmartds/gmanepbhbkdehnlfmjfpofpnkjfajnll), but it is still more likely that the majority of users find this piece of software installed on their computers without their knowledge. Researchers say that it should be spread using well-known distribution methods. That is, it is very likely that it travels bundled with other applications, according to them. Have you recently installed new software? If so, you must have installed SearchsmartDS at the same time. You can get rid of this potentially unwanted program quite easily; however, if you keep your system unprotected, more dangerous infections can easily slither onto your computer in the future. We do not say that you need to prevent all infections from entering the system yourself. Instead, we highly recommend that you enable security software on your PC as soon as possible because it seems that you do not have any security application installed on your system if you have ended up with this potentially unwanted program.

You can remove SearchsmartDS Search from the place of your default search tool only by deleting the SearchsmartDS browser extension. If it has been set on your browser without your knowledge, do not even consider keeping it. If you do not know where to start the undesirable add-on removal, check our manual removal guide provided below this article.
