Search By myMusic Extension

Search By myMusic Extension appears to be a potentially unwanted program; thus, even if it looks like it could be highly useful for you, we advise you to be cautious with it. The application’s creators claim it can help users “Easily search the web for FREE unlimited music, song, full albums, music videos.” However, by using the right keywords, you could find the same content while using google.com, YouTube.com, or any other reputable tools. Not to mention, there might be a difference between results shown by the potentially unwanted program’s provided search engine and the results displayed by legitimate search tools. Apparently, Search By myMusic Extension might show modified results, which means they could contain additional third-party advertisements. Sadly, interaction with such ads may cause you trouble, so if you want to search the Internet without risking your computer’s safety, it might be best to erase this suspicious plugin. To remove the application, you could follow the instructions available below, although if you wish to learn more first, you could simply continue reading our article.

According to the potentially unwanted program’s description to find the music content the user wants he should “Go to the address bar then type 'music' press TAB on your keyboard, enter your query and get the results you are looking for.” In fact, after doing so, Search By myMusic Extension might show you the content you are hoping to find. Still, as we already mentioned earlier, you could find it while using google.com or other legitimate search tools if you just use the right words like “music” or even more specific keywords, such as artist name, song title, etc.

On the other hand, users who choose to surf the Internet with the suspicious plugin’s provided search engine might be redirected through mymusic.gomusix.com and then to modified Yahoo search engine. Because of this along with the content the user was looking for, he could see additional advertising content from the extension’s third-party partners. Our researchers say it is quite possible not just because of the mentioned redirection to a particular server, but also because the Privacy Policy paper on the software’s official website (myappline.com/utilities/musicsearch) claims it may collect user’s anonymous and private data for “delivering targeted content andadvertisements.” Unfortunately, the potentially unwanted program’s developers do not take any responsibility for third-party content. It means there is a possibility some of it might cause you trouble, for example, it could redirect the user to sites distributing adware, browser hijackers, other applications similar to Search By myMusic Extension, or even malicious programs. This may not necessarily happen, but it is vital to know it might.

One of the last things we would like to discuss are the ways the potentially unwanted program could appear on users’ computers. Being compatible with only Google Chrome it is no wonder it is available in the Chrome Web Store. Also, Search By myMusic Extension is available through its developers’ official site called myappline.com. Nevertheless, besides these two channels, there are a few other possibilities. For instance, our researchers say the plugin might be spread via bundled software installers or doubtful pop-up advertisements. Therefore, we would not be surprised if some users received it accidentally. If you are one of those, who do not have any idea how the extension appeared on their browsers we would recommend being more careful the next time you click pop-ups suggesting tools, especially if they are displayed on unreliable file-sharing web pages. Another good idea would be to install a reliable antimalware tool that could guard the system against various threats.

Users who decide Search By myMusic Extension is not worth taking any chances or risking the computer’s safety should erase it with no hesitation. Our researchers say in order to remove it manually it is crucial to delete all the application’s created folders, files, or modified data. To make this task easier for less experienced users we have prepared deletion instructions available below the article. What’s more, if you are planning on installing a reliable antimalware tool you could use it to erase this potentially unwanted program too; just set the chosen tool to scan the system and then click the removal button provided afterward.
