Pink Lemonade Extension

Pink Lemonade Extension is probably one of the most useless browser extensions we have ever seen. This tool only works under Google Chrome. It seems to be most popular in Brazil, India, and Chile. Since we cannot claim that this extension means direct danger of any kind to you or to your computer, we have labeled it as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). As a matter of fact, it is not yet known what the real purpose of this PUP is since it simply redirects you to a webpage with the recipe of, well, pink lemonade. Of course, this page is filled with questionable third-party ads that may be risky to click on. But other than that we have not been able to figure out more because the whole code is obfuscated. Since this tool may show up on your computer without your knowledge, it may as well come along with malware infections. Thus, we advise you not to hesitate to remove Pink Lemonade Extension from your browser.

In all fairness, you can actually install this extension on its official webpage, salk.me, as well as its Chrome web store page, chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/pink-lemonade/khkcgpbajgkfmkilijbhfinfeapcannh. We must mention that the promotional page is rather simple; you cannot find any information or description of this tool apart from its name and the "Add extension to Chrome" button. This is rather suspicious and makes you wonder who on earth would ever install such an extension without any information at all. The web store page does tell you a few words about it, namely that this extension shows you the recipe of "a suppertime staple, a classic drink." Even if you would like to know more about this drink, we recommend that you run a web search on it and choose the best recipe that you could bookmark and have one click away without any risk. No wonder why we suggest that you delete Pink Lemonade Extension from your browser.

But the real bad news is that this PUP can also be found spreading in questionable and deceptive ways. For example, you may install it after clicking on a third-party pop-up advertisement. This pop-up may claim that you need to install a plugin or update in order to view content or due to system security issues. Unsuspecting users would most likely fall for such a trick and click. What is even worse, you could drop a whole bundle of threats if you click on the wrong third-party ad while viewing a suspicious site. As it happens, there are a number of types of websites that promote questionable third-party contents, including file-sharing, gaming, betting, and pornographic pages. Please note that one click on the wrong content could infect your system with a bundle of adware programs, browser hijackers, Trojans, fake alerts, and, of course, PUPs. This is why we emphasize the need for using a reliable malware scanner after you delete Pink Lemonade Extension from your PC.

This relatively new Google Chrome browser extension does not seem to change your homepage, new tab, and default search engine either. It simply places an icon on your browser's taskbar, next to the menu icon. If you click this icon, you open a new tab with ehow.com/how_2366369_old-fashioned-pink-lemonade.html, which is indeed a description of how to make a pink lemonade. Yes, that is all. So, why would you need a questionable tool to redirect you to a webpage? Remember that you can always use the bookmarking function of your browser to bookmark any preferred or frequently visited page. You do not need such a tool to do so. In addition to that, we have inspected the code of this extension and could not figure out its operations since it is rather obfuscated as we have mentioned. We believe that you should not use this PUP at all. Instead, you should remove Pink Lemonade Extension from your PC along with all other possible threats.

The good thing about this useless extension is that you can easily remove it from your Extension Manager. If you have never done this before, please follow our guide below this article. Remember to keep all your programs updated to avoid possible cyber attacks exploiting outdated security bugs. You should also consider becoming more cautious while surfing the web. However, if you do not think that you could protect your system properly, we advise you to download and install a trustworthy anti-malware program, such as SpyHunter as soon as you can.
