Ultimate Popup Killer

Ultimate Popup Killer is a piece of software promoted as a powerful pop-up blocker. It claims that it is better than similar applications: 1) it promises to block ALL pop-ups, 2) it does not use too much system resources, 3) it does not diminish the web surfing experience, 4) it is 100% free software, and 5) it is very easy to use it. Its official website (http://ultimatepopupkiller.com) contains so many positive things about it, so it does not surprise us at all that there are people who willingly download it from the web and install it on their computers. Unfortunately, it has also turned out that it can be installed on users’ PCs without their knowledge. Specifically speaking, it might also be spread in software bundles next to third-party applications. If you know nothing about its entrance, you must have installed the entire software bundle on your computer too. No matter you have installed it on your system willingly, or it has slithered onto your computer without your permission, it is still a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Programs classified as potentially unwanted software do not act like real malicious applications, but they still cannot be called decent applications. You should read the next paragraph of this article to find more about Ultimate Popup Killer and why it is called a PUP.

Ultimate Popup Killer does not have an interface, as specialists at pcthreat.com have noticed. You will only see its icon in the system tray after its successful installation. On top of that, you will hear a gunshot each time it blocks a pop-up. It does look quite a useful application at first glance, but it has turned out that it is compatible only with older versions of Internet Explorer. Also, it does not work on Windows 10. Specialists do not call it a potentially unwanted application because of this. One of the main reasons it has fallen into this category is the fact that it enters users’ PCs together with the browser hijacker Searchby.net. As a consequence, users who install it on their computers find their browsers’ settings altered as well. It should set this page as a homepage and New Tab, specialists say, which means that you will no longer see your good old pages. We would like to say that no other drawbacks were found, but it would be a pure lie.

There is one more reason Ultimate Popup Killer is better known as a potentially unwanted application. Research has clearly shown that it might enter users’ PCs bundles with third-party software, which is definitely not a feature of a legitimate application. Of course, it does not matter whether you have downloaded it from its official website, or it has slithered onto your computer next to third-party applications because it is still a potentially unwanted program in both cases. We do not think that such a program should stay installed on your computer when there are so many trustworthy applications acting the same available on the market. You should especially not keep it if it has been installed on your computer without your knowledge. When you delete it from your system, you should install a security application on your computer because Ultimate Popup Killer is definitely not the only potentially unwanted application. In other words, if you do nothing to ensure your system’s maximum protection today, you might find another potentially unwanted program or much more harmful malware on your PC the next day.

Like other potentially unwanted programs, Ultimate Popup Killer can be uninstalled through Control Panel; however, it leaves Searchby.net set as a homepage and New Tab on Internet Explorer, so you will have to undo the changes applied to this browser yourself too. Our manual removal instructions you will find below this article should help you to delete it easier, but you will still need to perform all the removal steps yourself. If the manual removal of Ultimate Popup Killer is not for you, you can use an automated malware remover instead. Your hijacked browser will be fixed if you use an automated tool as well.
