Danger level 3
Type: Potentially Unwanted Application

Mirageiso

Although Mirageiso might appear as a harmless application that offers useful services, our research team warns that it is not very reliable. In fact, we identify it as a potentially unwanted program – or “PUP” – and there are several reasons for that. According to research, this suspicious piece of software could be downloaded onto your computer without your permission. Furthermore, you cannot delete it completely by uninstalling it. If you execute the uninstaller, some elements of this PUP will remain active, and that is extremely suspicious. So, even if you downloaded and executed the program yourself, you need to be cautious about it because it resists normal elimination. Are you interested in removing Mirageiso? Considering that you are reading this report, we assume that you are. If you want to learn about this potentially unwanted program more, you should read the report before you focus on the guide provided to you below.

If you have downloaded Mirageiso from http://mirageiso.com/ yourself (at the moment, the installer does not work), it is most likely that you wanted free virtual CD-ROM software. That is how this potentially unwanted program is introduced to users via the official website. According to the information on this site, the program can support all kinds of images (including HDD), it is available for all Windows versions starting with Windows XP, and its services are free. At the bottom of the page, you can find the name of the company – Sichuan Zhoushan Weizhen Technology Co.,Ltd. – as well as a contact email address, ewifipartner@gmail.com. However, there are no links to privacy policy or terms of use statements, and that is pretty strange because that means that you do not really know how the PUP works. The data provided to you via the website is not very informative either. All in all, since the official installer does not work right now, users are more likely to encounter the PUP as they interact with software bundles. Interacting with bundles is always risky because malicious programs could be spread. If you have downloaded Mirageiso with other programs, check if they need to be deleted.

When Mirageiso is installed, it connects to the 45.76.66.188 IP address, and, according to our analysis, this is done to check if the PUP is launched in virtual environment. Unfortunately, that is pretty much all we know about this mysterious, potentially unwanted program. Since there is very little information that the creator of this PUP provides you with, you do not know about how it collects and uses data, how it works with third parties, or how the software is used altogether. Unfortunately, there are plenty of malicious infections in the world, and most of them look harmless. While we cannot say that Mirageiso is a malicious threat for sure, you have to admit that this potentially unwanted program is extremely mysterious and suspicious. Without a doubt, that is not something you can ignore. Overall, even if you find this program somewhat useful, it is strongly recommended that you delete it from your operating system.

If you uninstall Mirageiso in a normal manner via your system’s Control Panel, leftovers of this potentially unwanted program will be left behind. That is bad news for those who just uninstall the app and forget about it. The guide below might seem quite lengthy and complicated, but the instructions are pretty clear and straightforward, and we are sure that you will be able to follow them. You can also install anti-malware software to have Mirageiso deleted automatically. This option is ideal if more unreliable, suspicious programs are active on your operating system as well. Of course, if you decide to get rid of this software yourself, we recommend installing a legitimate malware scanner to scan your operating system. The threats detected by this tool are the threats that you need to remove as soon as possible. Hopefully, you can find the guides you need on our website. Enter the name into the search field at the top, and the guide – if it exists – should show up. If you want to request a removal guide, or you have questions about the PUP, use the comments section.
