Danger level 6
Type: Browser Hijackers
Common infection symptoms:
  • Hijacks homepage
  • Changes default search engine

Setting as a homepage would be a mistake because it is not a reliable search tool. Instead, it is usually referred to as a browser hijacker because it can show up on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome out of the blue. If you already see it when you open your web browser too even though you have not set it as your homepage willingly, there is basically no doubt that the web browser you use has been hijacked either. Polarity Technologies Ltd., the company that released, has already developed a number of websites looking like ordinary search tools, e.g., and, but none of these tools are legitimate search providers no matter that they look trustworthy, so do not use any of them. Yes, we suggest that you remove too if it is set on your browsers. You are the one who can make the final decision, but we hope that you will not let it stay after you find more about its drawbacks. The first reason why is called untrustworthy is its ability to change browsers’ settings without permission. It is definitely not a feature of a legitimate search tool because those trustworthy ones never show up on web browsers without the user’s consent. It should be set as your new homepage only, meaning that it will automatically launch when you start your browser. Second, suspicious search results coming from have been noticed. We call them the modified search results because they look like ordinary search results but, unlike them, they usually open pages that do not contain any information users are looking for. Most likely, the author of this search tool gets revenue for promoting these third-party pages. Do not expect it to share the revenue with you because it will not. What you can only get out of these redirections to third-party pages is untrustworthy software – you might install it from these pages you are redirected to against your will after clicking on any of the modified search results. These are not all the drawbacks it has. Its Privacy Policy document has revealed that it records data about users too. Of course, it focuses on the collection of non-personal details (e.g., operating system type, geographic location, Internet Service Provider, URLs and websites visited, search queries, and diagnostic information); however, all search queries consisting of personally-identifiable information will be recorded too: “By using the services, you are consenting to grant Polarity permission to collect your URLs and search data, including search queries that may contain personally identifiable information.” These search queries with personal details might be shared with third parties, so if you use to perform web searches, do not use any personal information as your search queries. Of course, it would be best to remove such a suspicious search tool completely.

Most likely, the reason you see set as your new homepage is the entrance of a browser hijacker promoting it. You could have set it as your new page too, but it is still more likely that this infection has entered your system in a bundle with software promoted on such pages as,, and No matter why settings of your browsers have been altered, you need to go to undo the changes applied as soon as possible because is not a search tool you should use on a daily basis. Once you are done with it, install trustworthy security software so that other Polarity search tools could not be set on your browsers without your knowledge.

You will remove by resetting your browsers to default, so start the removal procedure today if you do not want to see and use an untrustworthy search tool. You do not need to have any special tool to erase it manually, but this method is considerably slower if compared to the automatic one, so if you do not have time for this, perform the full system scan using an automated malware remover. You can find a bunch of tools only pretending to be trustworthy on the web, so do not install the first scanner claiming to be a powerful malware remover.
