  • Hijacks homepage
  • Changes default search engine

We would be more than lucky if all of our security threats were like This application is a browser hijacker, and it could potentially cause particular computer security issues. Of course, it is not a terribly dangerous threat that could destroy your system. Far from it. A browser hijacker is more of an annoying nuisance that does not allow you to browse the web as you might want it. Needless to say, you need to remove from your system to resume browsing the web peacefully. Also, by removing this browser hijacker, you would protect your system from other potential threats.

When we deal with browser hijackers, we usually know where they come from. And is not an exception. Our research suggests that this program belongs to the same group of browser hijackers as,,, and so on. It even uses the same server as Thus, it would seem that the program follows the same patterns of distribution and behavior, as all the other applications in the family. And it actually helps us remove this browser hijacker from the targeted computers because usually the same removal method can be applied to almost all programs in the group.

However, there is one more thing we would like to emphasize, and that is the distribution method. Normally, when you find an unwanted program on your computer, you would expect that program to have entered your PC without your permission. That is also the reason users tend to call most of the unwanted programs “viruses.” However, just because you did not notice how entered your PC, it does not mean this program is a malicious infection. You might have installed this application accidentally when you downloaded some freeware app from a file-sharing website.

It seems that we have mentioned this many times before (and we have!), but users should be more careful when they download programs from third-party sources. The problem is that there is no way to know what additional applications are included in the third-party installer that carries this one program you think you think. What’s more, if you were to check every single step of the installation wizard, you should be able to deselect the unwanted programs. Unfortunately, most of the time users simply breeze through freeware installation because they think there is nothing much to it. Of course, the result is that the likes of get added to their systems.

This browser hijacker works on Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome. The moment it enters your system, the program will change your homepage, so you will definitely know that something is off the next time you access the Internet. What’s more, it is very likely that will track your online activity via tracking cookies because it needs to figure out your likes and preferences for online marketing purposes. As a result, be sure that you will see a lot of modified search results when you search for something online. Also, the browser hijacker will redirect your searches via, which is a semi-legitimate Russian search engine, similar to Yandex.

So technically, itself does not do anything malicious, but it could redirect you to dangerous websites that might be associated with security threats. This happens because the browser hijacker does not review the third-party content it promotes, and hence the program becomes a perfect tool for malware distribution. It would not be surprising if it got exploited by cyber criminals to promote their corrupted content. And that is the main reason security experts urge users to remove from their systems.

Luckily, it is not complicated to delete this browser hijacker from your computer. If you have never done anything like that on your own, you can follow the instructions below this description. On the other hand, if you think that manual removal is not your cup of tea, you can rely on a licensed antispyware tool to terminate this intruder. While you are at it, you can also destroy other potential threats that might disrupt your system’s performance. Protecting your system and your personal data from malicious exploitation should be one of your top priorities. Hence, do everything you can to ensure that your PC is safe and clean.
