Best Ziper

Best Ziper is a suspicious application that is disguised as a Zip archive utility, but indeed it may bring a number of malicious threats onto your system. In fact, this software can show up on your PC without your permission or knowledge, which raises certain privacy breach issues for starters. However, since this program does not mean direct and serious danger, we have labeled it as a potentially unwanted program, or PUP. But even if it is a PUP, you should take this one seriously as it can indirectly put your system security at risk. We do not claim that this application itself does not work as it promises, but the malicious threats it may bring on board can seriously make your PC vulnerable and expose you to harmful web content, too. We suggest that you remove Best Ziper as soon as possible and do the same with all related and unrelated questionable programs as well.

It is possible to download this PUP from a website, healthydownload.com, when your computer is not protected by a decent up-to-date security program that is. Despite its URL name, this website does not strike us as a “healthy” place on the web, as it is flagged and blocked right away as a potential threat. Of course, if your PC is not protected, you can actually load this site and possibly download this application even though we do not believe that too many users would do so anyway.

As a matter of fact, it is much more likely that you install this PUP without even noticing it when you install a freeware bundle. However, this bundle is unfortunately heavily “armed” as our tests and research shows. This application can come on board with ELEX browser hijackers, Trojans, adware programs opening porn sites and pop-ups, and other PUPs (e.g., Traffic Exchange and YoutubeAdblocker). It should be obvious that such a lot can mean serious threats to you and to your computer as well. This is why it is essential for you to know how you can download such a bundle.

As we always say, such an infection starts with a click on the wrong third-party content. This could be a flashy banner or pop-up ad, or a link that you click on. It is possible that you are offered to update your Flash driver or any other plugin or software. However, when you install it, you also install a package of threats, including Best Ziper. You should also be very careful when your computer is infected with adware programs and browser hijackers because these infections can also present to you such contents. Yet another option is that you may use shady torrent or other file-sharing websites for downloading free programs. Or, you simply land on a suspicious website that hosts several unsafe third-party ands. One click, and you need to remember, this is all you need to drop a malicious package onto your machine. Thus, it comes as no surprise that you should run a malware scanner on your system to find all potentially harmful programs after you delete Best Ziper.

This PUP uses the open-source 7zip engine, so it actually works as an archive utility. But why would you use an application that brings all kinds of harmful programs on board? How can you trust it at all? And, why would you not use a reliable one instead? It is also important that we mention another suspicious trait regarding this PUP. In fact, it modifies your hosts file to block certain websites. So even if this software is capable of compressing and decompressing your files just alright, we do not believe that you should keep it on your system because we did not find it reliable enough based on the questionable circumstances. If you want to keep your virtual world clean and safe, we recommend that you remove Best Ziper and all other potentially risky applications as well that you can find on your PC.

Unfortunately, eliminating this PUP takes a little bit more effort than usual. First, it is advisable to use its uninstaller that you can find in the list of installed programs in Control Panel. However, this uninstaller leaves quite a mess behind. So, second, you should restore your hosts file by deleting all extra added lines. And, finally, you need to remove all the leftovers. We have prepared the necessary instructions for you below if you want to erase this PUP from your system yourself. Nevertheless, if such a PUP and its “escorts” could find a way to your system, it means that you do not have proper protection. Maybe it is a sign for you to consider installing a professional anti-malware program to automatically tackle all malicious attacks.
