Danger level 3
Type: Potentially Unwanted Application

GoGameGo is introduced as a must have add-on for gaming fans, but in reality, the application could be rather disappointing. In fact, it was categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP), and if you keep reading our report, we will explain to you why it fell under such classification. If the software did not satisfy your expectations either, we advise you to erase it as fast as possible. During the research, our specialists found out that the application’s main tool, which is a search engine, may show users suspicious advertisements from unknown sources. It is possible that these ads could take you to potentially dangerous web pages, so it might be wise to stay away from such content, or better yet remove the PUP and get a more reliable search tool. Users can eliminate GoGameGo manually while following the instructions placed below or just employ a reliable antimalware tool.

The potentially unwanted program can be downloaded from the official software’s website (gogamego.thewhizproducts.com). It is available only for Google Chrome users since the application is not compatible with any other browser. Our researchers think that to attract users to this site the PUP’s creators could be promoting it through pop-up advertisements.

Furthermore, GoGameGo could be distributed with bundled setup files too. In this case, users do not necessarily need to be convinced to install the threat as they might accept it accidentally. These things usually happen for users who do not choose advanced installation settings because then they might be unable to review suggestions of bundled software. Additional applications that are not deselected on the setup wizard are often installed automatically without further notice to the user. If it happens to you often, you should be more attentive. Besides, you could acquire a legitimate antimalware tool as it could help you protect the system from unreliable programs more efficiently.

Another thing we noticed about GoGameGo official website is the way it advertises the application. While reading the descriptions and positive sides of the software, users might get the idea the extension could allow you to play games with its help instantly. However, what users actually receive looks quite differently. The PUP provides some links that can lead you to web pages related to games or offering to play them. Thus, you cannot access game with a single click like the description says. Also, if you are a gaming fan, you might have already bookmarked these sites, so the add-on looks rather useless. To make matters worse, GoGameGo might replace your preferences by changing the homepage, new tab page, or default search engine with an unreliable search tool called mysearch.com.

Our specialists do not recommend using this search engine (mysearch.com) because it might show you modified results. It means the results could have injected content, for example, third-party pop-ups, banners, sponsored links, coupons, etc. These advertisements might be not reviewed by anyone, so there is a chance that some of them could promote other potentially unwanted applications, adware, browser hijackers, or other unreliable software, so it would be best to be extra cautious with such content. What’s more, while clicking suspicious ads you could also come across web pages that may try to collect your private data and by doing so invade your privacy. If you do not want to question each ad and wonder where it may take you, it might be best to pick a more trustworthy search tool.

Those who choose to get rid of GoGameGo can do it manually while following the instructions located at the end of this text. They will explain to users in more detail how to find and delete all files related to the extension. For less experienced users these steps could look rather difficult. In such case, we would advise you to leave this task for a reliable antimalware tool. Once, the installation process is completed you could launch the tool and perform a full system scan. During it, the software would detect the PUP along with other possible threats. Then what is left to do is to click the deletion button and all detections should be removed at once.
