Convertmypdf.co

Convertmypdf.co is an extension that is currently compatible with Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer browsers. This extension is officially represented via its official website – which is also the name of the extension itself – and Chrome users are provided with the installer that is located on the Chrome web store. Both sources introduce potential users to the suspicious add-on as a great tool that can convert Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPEG, and other files into PDF for free, which, of course, seems like a useful service. So why do we classify it as a PUP (potentially unwanted program)? When you install the extension, it automatically modifies browser’s settings. For one, the homepage on all browsers is switched to “http://www.convertmypdf.co/homepage/homepage.html?id=11162”. The PUP also displays this page via the New Tab. Internet Explorer users are likely to find liveemail set as the default provider as well. Due to this, we strongly recommend removing Convertmypdf.co from browsers.

If you have installed Convertmypdf.co onto Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you will find this extension in “chrome://extensions/” and “about:addons” menus. However, if you install it onto Internet Explorer, you will not see it in the “Toolbars and Extensions” menu, and that is very peculiar. Although the main purpose of this extension is to introduce you to the services of smallpdf.com, you also get a search tool that allegedly can help you “Search anything on web.” All queries are redirected to Yahoo Search, which, of course, is unexpected. Should you be happy that you are redirected to a popular, well-known search engine, or should you be worried? Considering that the results shown to you could be modified to include sponsored links, we believe you should be worried. Another thing to worry about is the collection of data. As stated in the Privacy Policy, cookies are employed as soon as the add-on is installed, and these cookies can record your IP address, browser information, and details about your operating system. Note that if you communicate with the creator of Convertmypdf.com, the information you provide them with is recorded and kept as well. Are you sure that this is safe?

Considering that Convertmypdf.co might be spread by unfamiliar software distributors, there is always a possibility that other infections exist. Have you examined your operating system with a reliable malware scanner? If you have not, what are you waiting for? A legitimate, free malware scanner can help you figure out if your operating system is beleaguered with serious infections that require immediate removal, which is extremely important to figure out as soon as possible. If you detect dangerous threats, it might be a good idea to employ automated anti-malware software to have your operating system cleaned for you. If you decide to erase all threats manually, it is crucial that you do your research quickly to figure out which threats require your attention first. Needless to say, if you waste your time on PUPs and similar threats when you should worry about Trojans or other serious infections, you might get yourself in trouble. Of course, we are hopeful that your PC is clean and that you only need to delete Convertmypdf.co.

The guide below might seem a little intimidating, but there is no need to worry. If you perform all steps with caution, you will have Convertmypdf.co deleted in no time. Needless to say, if you face any problems, you should not hesitate to contact us and ask for help. The easiest way for you to communicate with us is via the comments section below. Explain the issues you face in detail, and we will assist you shortly. One last thing we need to discuss is virtual security. If the PUP came into your PC bundled with malware, it is likely that your virtual security is weak. You can rectify this issue by employing legitimate anti-malware software that can continuously guard your operating system, including your web browsers. Of course, the PUP we discussed in this report is not a huge threat, but who can guarantee that more malicious infections will not infect your operating system in the future?
