Windows activation Error code:0x56102 (888) 571-0961

There are different types of infections out there. The Windows activation Error code:0x56102 (888) 571-0961 fake alert probably points out to the latest trend in the cyber crime world. Such fake alerts are being detected increasingly often, and it allows us to assume that the tactic is working. However, you should not fall for this scam. You need to remove the program that makes the Windows activation Error code:0x56102 (888) 571-0961 appear on your screen, and then you will be able to secure your computer against similar intruders in the future. There is no basis to feel overwhelmed by this.

Computer security experts say that the best way to protect your system from such threats would be acquiring a powerful security application. However, it is not just about leaving it all to a professional tool. You should also take note of your web browsing habits if you want to avoid various issues. You have to remember that there are quite a few malware distribution methods out there that rely on user’s negligence online. Even the Windows activation Error code:0x56102 (888) 571-0961 infection can be easily distributed around because users seldom understand the risks behind indulging in specific online activities.

According to our research, this infection can enter target computers at least in two ways. You may be exposed to a link that is part of the distribution scheme through a redirect. A redirection can occur when you open a website that is used for malware distribution by its creators. Usually, online gaming websites, file-sharing pages, and other sites that are dependent on third-party advertising could be exploited in such a way. Also, you may experience a redirection because of a browser hijacker on your computer. This would mean that your system was infected before you saw the Windows activation Error code:0x56102 (888) 571-0961 alert on your screen.

This means that you should be very careful about what sites you enter and what apps you download on a regular basis. This caution is also closely related to the other distribution method that could be applied by this infection: bundled software. You could have downloaded the malicious file together with some app you found on a third-party site. Sometimes it is possible to avoid installing the malicious program if you go through the setup steps carefully. Nevertheless, security experts also point out that, increasingly, malicious programs are bundled and installed without any notice. Thus, before you install an unfamiliar program, it would be a good idea to scan the installer file with a security tool.

When this TechSupport scam enters your computer, it makes sure that you see the Windows activation Error code:0x56102 (888) 571-0961 notification each time your system loads. For that, the program adds a new value in the Run key in Windows Registry. With that, the next time you turn on your computer, instead of your desktop, you see the fake alert message that says your copy of Windows is not activated anymore. There are still users who do not use genuine copies of operating system, so for those users, this notification might seem very believable. It says:

Enter a product key

Your product key should be in an email from whoever sold or distributed Windows to you, or on the box the Windows USB came in.

The product key looks similar to this:
PRODUCT KEY: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Windows Activation Error! Code:0x56102
Toll Free (888) 571-0961

The Computer is locked.
Enter your password to continue.

As you can see, the fake alert requires you to call a “toll-free” number. It would seem that calling this number would solve all your problems. And some users may feel compelled to call it because this message covers the entire screen, preventing users from accessing their data and system utilities. Also, it is not possible to disable this screen-lock in Normal Mode.

Nevertheless, you can close this screen in Safe Mode with Networking, and we will show you how to do that. Do not feel discouraged by the sheer amount of removal instructions below. You have to delete Windows activation Error code:0x56102 (888) 571-0961 from your system anyways, and if manual removal seems too challenging, you can always resort to using a computer security application.
