GeoByPass

There are programs that may look useful and reliable, but they only appear on your computer because they use shady methods to enter a target system. GeoByPass is one of such programs. You might think that this application is a useful tool that can improve your web browsing experience, yet adware programs are created for a single purpose only. Their developers need to make easy by promoting third-party content. Albeit the tactics employed by such applications are not illegal, you should remove GeoByPass from your system as soon as possible. Adware programs can be easily used and abused by cyber criminals to promote malicious apps, and you certainly would not want to install one on your PC.

During our research, we have found that there have been several other programs that share the same features and behavioral patterns with GeoByPass. In fact, our researchers say that CounterFlix, TopFlix, AnyFlix, DNS Unlocker, and other programs. These applications come forth saying they can provide you with some useful function, but the reality is that they do not really do anything good. If you check GeoByPass’s official website via geobypass.net, you will find more “information” about the program. It will say that the app can provide you with a “simple, safe, fast DNS service.” In other words, the program should allow you to “easily bypass geographically restricted content online for free.”

However, there is a catch to it because the program usually appears on the target system without user’s permission. Rather than coming from a direct source, it is far common for the program to get distributed in software packages. If that is really the case, then it means there are many other unwanted applications installed on your PC. The most disappointing part about this is that users set up such applications on their computers willingly. For instance, you might have installed GeoByPass together with some program you have found on the Internet, and you did not even check all the steps in the installation wizard.

Once the program gets installed, it modifies your DNS settings. The settings modification should allow you to access region-locked content on popular Internet TV platforms, like Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, and others. Nevertheless, there is a catch to it because with the DNS settings changed, the program can also display commercial advertisements in the form of pop-ups on the major Internet browsers. That is because the program can intercept all the incoming traffic, and it can insert the ads into the content you are trying to load on your browser.

Technically, this type of activity is more annoying than dangerous, but the problem is that GeoByPass cannot determine what type of content will be displayed in those commercial ads. Therefore, there is a good chance that cyber criminals will make use of these ads to promote their content. Consequently, if the application remains on your computer for a prolonged period of time, you could also get exposed to corrupted content that distributes malware. Needless to say, a malware infection is something you should avoid at any cost.

The bottom line is that you have to remove GeoByPass from your system. It should be possible to delete the application manually, but if you are not used to deleting applications on your own, it would also be a good idea to run a full system scan with the SpyHunter free scanner, as you need to determine all the potential threats that are hiding on your computer. As mentioned, this adware program usually comes bundled in software packages, so there is a good chance that you have multiple unwanted programs on-board.

As far as manual removal is concerned, you will have to remove several registry entries and restore your DNS settings. It is not complicated if you follow our instructions closely. However, if you are not sure of your skills, you can always leave it for an automated antispyware tool to delete all the unwanted files and applications. What’s more, by investing in a reliable antispyware tool, you will protect your system from similar infections. You just have to remember that employing safe web browsing habits is just as important as keeping a computer security program constantly updated. You have to take all the measures to protect your PC from harm.
