DiskPower

DiskPower's installer is powered by “Wemonetize,” which is a company that specializes in monetizing products. Thus, there is a chance that the software could show commercial ads, sponsored links, and other offers from the third party. We have to warn users that it is better to stay away from such ads as much as possible. Our specialists tested the application and found out that some of them might have links to harmful web pages. If you want to get rid of the program as soon as possible, you could slide below the text and use our deletion guide. However, we encourage you to invest a few more minutes while reading the article, getting more details about DiskPower could help you identify and avoid similar threats in the future.

Users might download the application with bundled installers that could be distributed on unreliable file-sharing web pages. If you want to be able to deselect unwanted offers on the setup wizard, you should always choose custom installation settings. Most importantly, it is advisable to avoid untrustworthy file sharing sites. If a reputable company creates software, then the best place to gets its installer is the official website. In fact, DiskPower also has a homepage, but the provided download link does not work anymore.

The program’s description on the official site says that it is a tool that detects duplicate files and optimizes user’s disk. This feature works, but our researchers are not sure if the application could find all copies. It might be that the software could skip identical files if they have different titles. Also, once installed the application should be launched automatically when you turn on the computer. That is because it creates a value name called DiskPower in the Run key in the Windows Registry.

Moreover, it is worth mentioning that the software was classified as a potentially unwanted program or PUP in short. This category is for applications that might be not as harmful as malware, but could provide possibly dangerous content. In this case, our specialists are concerned about the third-party advertising that could be shown by DiskPower.

The software’s creators do not say anything about advertising in the End User License Agreement document, but they mention it in the Privacy Policy statements. To be more precise, one of the statements points out that “Using our own and third party technologies and sources, we may also collect demographic information to make advertisements more relevant for you.” This could mean that the application might gather specific information about users to provide them with targeted ads.

Furthermore, it is important to know that the DiskPower creators refuse to take any responsibility for any harm resulted from the software’s usage. As you see, no one reviews the content on third-party web pages. Therefore, there are chances that some of the advertised sites could be dangerous to the system. Naturally, if you click such ads, you might be redirected to third-party websites. Some of the sites might promote similar PUPs, adware, browser hijackers, and so on. Nonetheless, there might be ads that could promote Trojans, viruses, and other malicious software.

Even if the tool could offer you advanced technologies, we do not think that enhanced tools would outweigh the possible risks. Thus, we advise users not to take any chances with DiskPower and remove it from the system. To erase the PUP, you should locate its created Registry entries and other data on the computer. For exact directories, have a look at the instructions below this text.

It is also possible to eliminate the application automatically with a trustworthy security tool. Once the tool is installed, launch it and press the button that starts the system scan. Of course, the process might take some time, but once the antimalware tool checks the system it will show you a report. You can look through the list or just click the deletion button.
