FastCompress-Zip

FastCompress-Zip is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that might enter your computer in software packages. This program is associated with a browser hijacker, and as such, it falls into the pool of applications that are not recommended to keep in your system. Luckily, you can uninstall the application via Control Panel, and there will be no leftover files left. On the other hand, if you think that there might be more unwanted apps on-board, you should seriously consider investing in a legitimate antispyware tool that would scan your PC and give you the exact diagnosis. Do what you need to ensure that your system and your data remain safe and protected.

When we need to describe a computer threat, we take a look at several features that determine the program’s category. For instance, does it have an official homepage? Does the direct download link work? Does the program perform its functions properly? The answer to all these questions is “Yes,” when we talk about FastCompress-Zip. So, in a sense, it would be hard to label this application as a potential threat. The only reason we are not too happy with it is the fact that the official website is not the only distribution source, and there are a lot of users who install this application accidentally.

If you are not sure where FastCompress-Zip comes from and how it managed to enter your PC, think back to when it was the last time you downloaded something. Did you download it from an official vendor’s website or did you use a third-party file-sharing page? If you downloaded a piece of software from a file-sharing website, the chances are you initiated the installation of several programs at the same time. FastCompress-Zip might have been one of them.

Why does this happen? Freeware apps are often included in third-party installers, as they are easy to acquire. Also, this increases the installation rate, so bundled downloads are really effective in improving freeware distribution rates. Unfortunately, unsuspecting computer users are the ones who are left completely clueless here. It SHOULD be possible to deselect the FastCompress-Zip installation via third-party installer if you read everything the installation wizard shows you. Normally we skip some steps that do not seem essential to us, right? However, when we deal with freeware and software bundles, we need to be extra careful because there is always a possibility that the third-party installer might offer you to deselect additional applications. And if you skip those steps, then the likes of FastCompress-Zip can easily enter your system.

As mentioned, when this program comes in a software package, it usually is installed together with the neusearch.com hijacker. It means that your default homepage and the search engine will be modified without your permission, and you will be exposed to a variety of potential security threats when you browse the web. Of course, FastCompress-Zip has nothing to do with those threats because that is cyber criminals making use of vulnerable applications. It is your job to make sure that your system does not suffer in any way because of this.

Hence, if you had no plans to install this application on your system, scroll down to the manual removal instructions and uninstall FastCompress-Zip. During our tests, we have found that such removal method is efficient enough, and the application does not leave any additional files that would require your attention. As for your browser, you should reset your settings to default or resort to using a licensed antispyware tool. That would be the easiest and the fastest way to get rid of all the potential threats.

We are using the plural here because we believe FastCompress-Zip is not the only unwanted application installed on your computer. If you did not intend to have this app, but it is still there, it is very likely that multiple other applications might have entered your PC, too.

Run a full system scan with a computer security tool of your choice, and you will soon see the results. If it is mostly PUPs, you most probably can delete them via Control Panel. However, if the scan detects something more serious, then you should leave the software removal to the professionals.
