Danger level 3
Type: Potentially Unwanted Application

ContentPush

A program such as ContentPush is supposed to be useful, but it is not. Its developers use it to make money, and that is its only purpose. After testing this application, we have classified it as a potentially unwanted program because it offers nothing of value to the end-user, so we suggest that you remove it from your PC. This program is set to render an advertising window on the right side of the screen and load its promoted links. We did not find the links to be dangerous, but they are invasive and will probably obstruct your computing experience.

This application is similar to adware, but it does not render the advertisements inside the web browser. Also, its promoted content should be safe, but we do not vouch for it. This program’s creators had taken a different approach when it came to presentation. It is important to note that ContentPush promotes content that is supplied by a website called Revcontent.com only. This website is in the online advertising business, and it has various well-known clients. This application is set to generate a window on the right side of the screen and load its promoted websites. If you click on the window, then you will get redirected to the full-screen window named “ContentPush – news.”

We have a problem with its advertising methods precisely because it pushes its promotions to the point when they become annoying and invasive. This application can obstruct your computing experience, granted that you can still close its advertising window. Nevertheless, there is no way to get rid of its promotions without uninstalling the whole application. ContentPush is set o run on system startup, and if you close its window, it will launch again after some time. So you have to kill its process via Control Panel, but it will start again on the next system startup. So if you find its advertisements unnecessary, unwanted and invasive, we recommend that you uninstall it, but, in some cases, its uninstaller does not always delete its files so you might continue seeing its promotions. Before we show you how to eradicate it for good, let us briefly overview its dissemination method so that you could minimize the chances of getting similar software in the future.

While gathering information about ContentPush, we found that it comes from an unknown software developer. Indeed, this program has not been digitally signed, and it does not have a dedicated website used to promote and distribute it. It appears that its owners have opted for distributing this program using software bundling. Software bundling is a typical method for distributing shady software because it depends on unwary users installing it without checking its contents first. Moreover, their installers often hide additional software in a submenu that you have to access by selecting custom/advanced installation settings. Therefore, we advise you always to choose custom installation to deselect additional software that is usually useless. Unfortunately, we do not know where the bundles containing ContentPush are featured, but it is clear that they are not put up for download on entirely reliable sites.

In closing, ContentPush is an application dedicated to promoting the content of Revcontent.com. Thus, its purpose is to generate advertising revenue. It can be argued that its content is useful, but the fact of the matter is that you have no control over this application, and you cannot turn off its promotions when you want to. In fact, this application prevents you from doing this by running in the background at all times. So if you want to remove ContentPush, then feel free to use the manual removal guide below because it is likely that its uninstaller will leave all of its files after you run it.
