System Care

System Care is obviously the name of an application that falls into the PC optimizer category. However, after carefully examining and testing it, we have found that this program is not any different from other fake or potentially unreliable optimizers. In fact, we have labeled it as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). We think that this software may display fake results to push you to buy the full version. It is also possible that this PUP enters your computer with malicious programs or later downloads such threats. All in all, we believe that you should make up your mind about this program before more serious security issues arise. In fact, we suggest that you remove System Care from your computer. Please read our full report on this PUP to see why we think that your PC would be safer without this application.

Our research shows that System Care is mostly spreading in these countries: United States 24.8%, Germany 17.1%, and United Kingdom 15.0%. Actually, this application has two official websites: one for the US market, uspcworks.com, and one for the global market, globalpcworks.com. There are only slight differences between these sites. You can download a free version of this questionable program or you can buy the full version for $28.98, which also includes a free program called Photo Commander. This promoted program is shown to be worth $49.99 but now, “you are so lucky” to get it all for free. So instead of having to pay around $75, you “only” have to pay $28.98 for this suspicious PC cleaner and its companion. Of course, these websites look totally fine and professional, and somewhat very similar to all the other PC optimizers, too.

The problem is that most probably there is little chance that many users find these sites. Imagine running a web search on “System Care.” Do you think you could find any related information on the first few results pages? Do you think an application name could get any more general than that? So obviously you cannot even really find out easily that this is a potentially unwanted program. The truth is that we have found this PUP travelling in freeware bundles that contain several malicious software installers. It is possible to find other PUPs, browser hijackers, and adware programs as well in such bundles. This could mean that your operating system could be quite vulnerable if such threats are hiding on it. Since this is a rather suspicious way to spread an application, we believe that you should delete System Care and eliminate all other infections, too.

After installation this PUP might download and install malware programs, such as adware apps. This is rather suspicious behavior and should not be tolerated by security-minded users. This application claims to “clean, optimize, and speed up your PC” but we have found that its scans may be manipulated or fake in order to persuade you to buy the full product to be able to fix possibly non-existing issues. This is usual behavior for rogue PC optimizers. We believe that you would be better off doing a proper web search on a decent optimizer tool because System Care has not convinced us about its reliability and effectiveness. In fact, we recommend that you remove System Care from your computer before more infections start to show up unexpectedly.

There is at least one good thing we can mention about this PUP at the end and that is the ease of its removal. This application has a working uninstaller that you can run through Control Panel and it should leave no mess behind. Please use our instructions below if you are not familiar with uninstalling an application. If you want to protect your computer from similar attacks, you should stay away from suspicious websites and clicking on third-party ads. But no matter how cautious you become, you cannot really beat an automated anti-malware program. That is why we suggest that you install one in order to protect your PC properly and fully. Also, keep all your drivers and programs updated because cyber criminals can easily exploit the bugs and security holes of older versions.
