Search.yourmovietime.com

Search.yourmovietime.com is a suspicious search engine that may appear in your browsers when a browser hijacker sneaks onto your system. This hijacker poses a threat to your virtual security since it may expose you to potentially harmful third-party web content as well as other malware infections that may travel together with this threat. Keeping this browser hijacker on board can make your computer be more vulnerable than it already is. Therefore, we believe that you should remove Search.yourmovietime.com as soon as you can. However, since your computer may be under attack by several malware threats, you should eliminate them all before going online again. Please read our article till the end to have enough knowledge about this infection and what you can do to avoid similar attacks.

We have found that this browser hijacker mainly infects your computer through malicious third-party advertisements that may be presented to you by adware applications, such as InteliTerm and TermTrident, which have to be already on your computer. In other words, this would mean that your computer was previously infected with such malware programs. But it is also possible that you download this infection in a malicious bundle by clicking on unsafe third-party content on suspicious torrent and freeware websites. You may have noticed that on such pages you can find a great number of annoying and quite often flashing advertisements. Some of these do not even look like an ad, but rather like a button or a Windows error message in order to fool inexperienced users to click on them. This is exactly why we advise you to avoid unfamiliar sites and always use reputable and official pages to download software.

What you may not know is that even though you download such an infected bundle, you may be able to opt out of the installation of certain elements in time. It is possible that you need to cancel the whole process because you realize that in order to install your target software you are required to let it install some extra tools or make certain changes in your browsers. But you may be presented with checkboxes that need to be unticked so that the assigned components do not get installed. Nevertheless, it is possible that you let the whole lot onto your computer and now it is under continuous attacks from several sources. That is why we think that you should run a malware scanner right after you delete Search.yourmovietime.com to detect all the threats on board.

After careful examination, we have noticed that this browser hijacker is identical to other well-known hijackers, including Search.myspeedtestxp.com, Search.mygamesxp.com, and Search.MyTelevisionXp.com just to name a few. This unreliable search engine also sends all your queries through extsearch.maxwebsearch.com server to a possibly modified Yahoo search results page. This means that you may find targeted content on the results page, such as advertisements and sponsored links based on the information this hijacker may gather about you by spying on you. However, it is always risky to click on such content as you can never know how legitimate the third-party behind it is. Therefore, it is possible quite sadly that you end up on a fake or malicious website operated by criminals.

This browser hijacker also presents to you a number of one-click thumbnail links to popular mail servers below the search box, including Gmail, Yahoo, and AOL. However, it is possible that this infection injects affiliated third parties’ advertisements in those pages and thus exposes you to potentially harmful content. All in all, we think that your computer will be all the safer if you delete Search.yourmovietime.com, not to mention the fact that this tool has nothing to do with movies at all as its URL may suggest; and that you can also call misleading and suspicious.

In order to end the useless and potentially harmful operation of this annoying threat, first, you should run its uninstaller in Control Panel. Since this uninstaller does not seem to do a proper job, and it only removes the extension from Internet Explorer, you will need to take care of the other two affected browsers manually, including Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome as well. If you need assistance with these steps, please use our instructions as a reference.
