Search.di-cmf.com

Search.di-cmf.com is a browser hijacker that spreads through bundled installers. Once it settles in your system, it will change your homepage, and it might modify other preferences, such as search engine or new tab page. It would be better to get rid of the application, although you may think that there is no difference what search engine you use. We can assure you that unlike reliable search engines, browser hijackers can modify your search results. It means that you might notice unrelated sponsored links or other suspicious content that leads to third-party websites. Visiting third-party sites might be risky as they could contain malware. Therefore, it would be wise to change your search engine into a more trustworthy one as soon as you can.

This browser hijacker is very similar to Search.yourinterestscenter.com, and it also spreads bundled with other doubtful software, e.g. adware, potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), and so on. Usually, software is bundled with such applications on file-sharing websites that offer freeware, so you might want to avoid visiting them in the future. Of course, you can always deselect unwanted programs in the installation wizard, but it is always better to download applications from trustworthy sources. Importantly, you should read all the terms in the setup wizard and decide if software is safe to use.

As it appears to be, the browser hijacker should work on all major browsers, such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, although it does not do anything to Microsoft Edge. Also, browsers that are compatible with the browser hijacker should be affected differently, e.g. in some browsers it might hijack only your homepage and in others, it could be your search engine.

Apparently, the browser hijacker did not create its own search engines as it uses yahoo.com. Still, the results displayed to you will be modified by Search.di-cmf.com. In other words, it could contain sponsored links or ads, and they might be unrelated to your search keywords. This additional content would lead you to third-party web pages and they might by rather suspicious. For starters, they might offer free samples or services and in exchange ask for your personal information. Since third-party sites are not reliable, such data could be collected and used for marketing or other purposes. That is why it is important to check the site’s Privacy Policy statement, before you submit any information to it, although it would be even better to stay away from third-party websites.

Furthermore, the browser hijacker could promote websites that contain unreliable software such as adware, PUPs, and other browser hijackers. In most cases, their official sites try to make an impression that the promoted software possesses different functions than it has in reality, so they might seem like useful and legitimate tools. Therefore, if you get redirected to a site that suggests installing some application, make sure to confirm that the program’s developers are well-known and trustworthy. Also, it might be a good idea to read some reviews on the Internet, because if something is wrong with the application, you should find user complaints or bad reviews. With Search.di-cmf.com, you will have to be extra cautious all the time, and if you do not like this idea, you should get rid of this browser hijacker and use a search engine that displays results without potentially harmful links.

The search engine is not safe to use as it shows modified search results with sponsored links from third-party sites. If you do not want to risk exposing your sensitive information to unreliable companies and wish to keep your system secure, there are no reasons to keep the search engine on your browser. Firstly, you should remove it from your system and then go back to the preferences you had before or search for even more reliable search engines. Although you should manage to delete the browser hijacker with the instructions available below, we would advise you to take a look at them first. They might seem too complicated for some users, so we can offer you an automatic removal option. Simply download a legitimate security tool and complete its installation. Then you can locate the browser hijacker with the scanning tool and delete it afterward.
