Type: Potentially Unwanted Application

SafeSearch by Raaz

You probably would not believe just how many unfamiliar and unnecessary programs you have on your computer. SafeSearch by Raaz could be one of them. This program is a potentially unwanted application that might as well be considered a security, especially if we believe it could lead to specific security issues. If you care about your system’s safety, you will see to it that SafeSearch by Raaz gets removed from your computer immediately. Please scroll to the bottom of this description for the manual removal instructions. Should you encounter any problems when you try to delete this application, do not hesitate to ask for help by contacting us.

The application functions as a browser extension, and it is compatible with the Google Chrome browser. Normally, we would not cover browser extensions because these pieces of software simply improve browser’s functionality. However, when a new extension gets added to your browser, it usually happens because you want it, and you do it yourself. When we deal with SafeSearch by Raaz, on the other hand, the situation is quite different. Users often complain that this extension seems to appear out of nowhere, as they do not remember having installed it on their browsers.

It would be hard to prove that SafeSearch by Raaz is a malicious infection because the extension has an official website, and it is also available on the Chrome Web Store. The official website can be accessed via raaz.io, and if you want to, you can add the extension to your browser through there. It also says that this extension “helps you protect your privacy while you search the Internet, prevents the tracking of your search terms by the search engines,” and helps you “say incognito and keep your searches private.” If users want to protect their privacy while they surf the web, whatever this extension has to offer may sound like a good deal, especially since it is free. However, we would not be so hasty to as to add this extension to our browser.

Just because SafeSearch by Raaz is available at the Google Web Store, it does not automatically mean that the extension is useful and reliable. For example, when you click to add the extension to your browser, you will be greeted with a notification about what the extension might do. The notification will say that SafeSearch by Raaz can “read and change all your data on the websites you visit,” and “change your privacy-related settings.” Perhaps that is not something one would expect of a useful and reliable application. What’s more, if we were to go to the Chrome Web Store and check the user reviews, we would see that this extension is a lot shadier than we have initially thought.

User reviews suggest that SafeSearch by Raaz does not live up to its promise. Most of the users want to remove the application, and they complain that they “can’t get anywhere.” Perhaps they cannot access the websites they want because the extension also modifies your default search engine settings. It sets safesearch.raaz.io as your default search provider, and, as a result, you are forced to use this questionable search engine. The reason we question safesearch.raaz.ico is that no matter what keyword you enter into the search box, the first page of your search results will mostly be supported links that lead to commercial websites.

Thus, it is obvious that the only reason this extension is there on your browser is to make money for its creators. Sadly, none of the revenue to help this application generate will reach you. On the contrary, if some of the result links promoted by SafeSearch by Raaz end up being exploited by cyber criminals, there is a chance that you could get infected with malware. Therefore, there is no doubt that the best way out of this situation would be deleting this program from your computer.

It is possible to uninstall the extension via the Google Chrome settings, but in order to delete all the files related to this program, it would be for the best to terminate the application manually by following the instructions below. After that, please consider investing in a licensed antispyware tool that would protect your computer from similar potentially unwanted applications in the future.
