Screen Locker

Screen Locker is known to be a serious Trojan infection. It usually slithers onto computers without permission and then immediately starts acting in an undesirable way. The main reason it does that is to convince users to dial the provided number (1-888-315-3446). Even though Screen Locker claims that you will reach Microsoft Certified Technicians, we do not think that it is true, so there is no point in trying to contact them either. In fact, the only thing that you really have to do if you have already encountered Screen Locker is to remove this infection. As you already know, this threat is a serious Trojan, so it will not be easy to get rid of it. Therefore, we want to help you with its removal.

It has been observed that Screen Locker will immediately launch a full-screen window of Internet Explorer after it manages to enter the system. Of course, you will not be able to remove this window easily, which means that it will cover the Start menu, Taskbar, and Desktop. Generally speaking, it will be impossible to use the computer unless you eliminate this infection fully. The inability to use a computer is one of those reasons why users believe the content of the full-screen message (find an excerpt below) they see.

mse.exe has expired on your computer. Plugin missing!

As can be seen, the blue message which resembles the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) window tries to convince users that something is wrong with their systems and they need to fix the problem in order to continue using PCs freely. Even though this message seems to be genuine, the truth is that it is fake and you should not pay much attention to it. Do not worry; it will disappear after you fully remove Screen Locker from your system.

Specialists working at pcthreat.com have also noticed that you might see another fake message on your screen. It will try to convince you that “your computer is infected with a backdoor Trojan or open port malware.” Of course, it will also suggest you to contact Microsoft Network support by the given phone number. We are sure that this phone number has nothing to do with Microsoft, and there is no doubt that it is used my scammers who seek to extort money from users and even get their personal information. Sensitive data is a really valuable piece of information that can be sold.

Research has also shown that Screen Locker will not only open a web page (neterrors.info/security-breach.html) with a fake message, but will also connect to the Internet without permission. In addition, it will be impossible to launch the Windows Explorer because of the modifications in the system registry. Finally, our specialists are also sure that Screen Locker will create the NoViewContextMenu Value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer in order to disable the right button of your mouse. There is only one reason why it does that. It simply seeks to prevent users from removing it easily.

Unfortunately, Screen Locker is not the only annoying threat that exists on the web. You might download a similar infection if you keep clicking on bad links and downloading programs from various third-party web pages, torrents, file-sharing pages, and other similar sites. A similar threat might also enter your system if you open an infectious email attachment. As can be seen, you have to be careful all the time. In case you do not think that you can protect your PC from harm, you should install a trustworthy security tool on your computer and always keep it there. Of course, only a reliable tool can help you to prevent undesirable software from entering your system.

It is really hard to remove Screen Locker fully because it makes many modifications in the system registry. In addition, it opens a fake message that cannot be removed easily. Luckily, we are here and we are going to help you with the Screen Locker removal. Feel free to use our manual removal instructions which you will find below this article. It would be smart to scan the system with an automatic malware remover, e.g. SpyHunter after you finish erasing Screen Locker too because it is a must to take care of other infections existing on the system. Unfortunately, a bunch of other threats might really hide on your computer because Screen Locker tends to come together with other undesirable applications.
