BeautyMost is a rather questionable program that offers nothing of value to the end-user. It is also an annoying program that when run will redirect to various promoted websites. So, you might want to remove it, especially if you are not interested in its advertised products and services. However, from the very outset, we wish to clarify that the promoted websites are legitimate, for now at least. Most of its promotions are related to beauty and health which is all well and good. However, the advertisements are intrusive which makes this program highly undesirable. But, we are going to take a closer look at this application, so join us if you want to know more about it.
While researching, we have found that BeautyMost is currently being distributed using three methods. Its developers have utilized malicious software bundles as the primary means to disseminate it. The bundled version of this program should be featured on freeware hosting websites, but we have yet to find any samples. Nevertheless, since this application is not malicious, you should be given the opportunity no to install it by unchecking its installation checkbox. The second method that is used to distribute is not so commonly employed, but it is effective nonetheless. The method we are referring to are online promotions. We have found that BeautyMost’s download is being advertised on unreliable search engines that are often classified as browser hijackers. To be more precise, it may be advertised in the search results or on the main page of the browser hijacker, like in Whaatnext.com. The last method is it is featured on its dedicated website at Beautymost.com that features its standalone installer. However, this installer contains malicious software, such as Search Know, Sweet-page.com, System Healer, and Yoursearching.com, among others. The malware to be installed is subject to the region where the user is located. Note that it acquires your location by connecting to the Internet and processing your IP address.
So what do you get when you install BeautyMost? Well, you do not get a lot and what you get is not all that useful. When you launch this program, it renders a window with the "Beauty Most" sign and its website address at time top. Moreover, the contents of this window are promotions and offers supplied by a program titled Search Deals, an ad-supported program that seems to be affiliated with this PUP.
As previously mentioned, this program mostly promotes health and beauty products. From what we have seen, most of its promotions come from websites, such as Samplesandsavings.com, Urthbox.com, and Kinsahealth.com. Also, it automatically opens a browser window and redirects to Redtag-specials.com, but the website depends on the region. The information we have gathered suggests that most of the time this website is opened if the infected computer is located in Brazil or Egypt. Furthermore, it opens an Internet Explorer window and redirects trough the Searchcactus.com server to various commercial offers (e.g. Gotitpromos.com/go/to/52c55d/key/32b4d654fd47ca5e7659cc0d811bbaed/aid/11767/s1/217321.
On a more technical note, BeautyMost creates a file folder in the Program Files folder, which is where all of this programs files are located. Furthermore, it created several registry keys that you might wave to delete manually. These registry keys are located in the Windows Registry in the following directories:
After we had analyzed BeautyMost, we classified it as a potentially unwanted program that displays annoying advertisements. Even though its current promotions are not dangerous we cannot say for certain if they are going to stay safe as the promoted content is prone to change. However, we are concerned with the fact that it comes bundled with adware, browser hijackers, and potentially unwanted programs, so you should look into this issue and get rid of them all. Try using our recommended antimalware scanner to find and remove them.
