Danger level 8
Type: Browser Hijackers
Common infection symptoms:
  • Hijacks homepage
  • Changes default search engine

There are two ways to attract Search.yourradionow.com. This browser hijacker takes over your browsers either if you download a browser extension from yourradionow.com/Radio? or if a malicious installer is executed. In the case of the latter option, other unreliable programs deserving of removal could enter your operating system/browsers along with this hijacker. If you download this search tool from its official download page, it is unlikely that you will have to deal with the removal of third-party software, and that is good news. So, why do you need to remove Search.yourradionow.com? The fact that this browser hijacker can corrupt your browsers is one reason, but we have found a few other reasons to eliminate this search provider. Please continue reading to learn more about it.

Your Radio Now by SaferBrowser is the extension that is associated with Search.yourradionow.com. This program is published by Sail Machine, and it is likely that it is responsible for programs that unleash Search.yourinterestsnow.com, Search.myclassifiedsxp.com, Search.myspeedtestxp.com, and similar browser hijackers as well. These hijackers are identical, and they all represent Yahoo Search. This suspicious hijacker redirects to search.yahoo.com via the extsearch.maxwebsearch.com server. The search results shown are modified, but because they are shown via Yahoo, users rarely even think about the possibility of their being unreliable or misleading. Every link you click on could open a backdoor to an unreliable website, and this could lead to many different security problems. Let’s say you were routed to a website hosting a Trojan installer. If this infection slithered into your PC, other threats could find their way into your operating system, and you could suffer virtual identity theft.

Search.yourradionow.com is introduced as the New Tab Search. Chrome users might find it set to show up on startup. Although this strange search provider does not hijack the homepage or search provider on Chrome, it can modify the “On Startup” settings, and it adds a search provider to the list of available providers. Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox users are less lucky, because this hijacker can take over the homepages on both of these browsers. Although a disclaimer warning users about search modifications is attached next to the install button, most users are not careful enough to notice this. They often forget to check the Privacy Policy as well. The fact is that if all users analyzed this document, fewer of them would have to worry about the removal of Search.yourradionow.com. The Privacy Policy discloses that information – which could contain personal data – can be recorded and “shared with third-party applications” to provide you with more appealing ads. Trusting unfamiliar parties is dangerous, and we advise against that.

Eafeebfokkledmjningeofhjgphikign is the ID provided by Chrome to identify the Your Radio Now extension. You can find this ID by viewing the Chrome extensions list in Developer Mode, and it is worth checking if you want to find the folder under C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions. If you choose to delete this folder, the extension associated with Search.yourradionow.com is likely to remain present. The Firefox file under C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[unique user folder]\extensions might have a unique name. The name versions we found included “bf876bab-9b16-439e-b5a8-72d89b282384@jetpack.xpi” and “6e902e2c-26fc-46b3-9711-44fd3122c847@jetpack.xpi”. You can remove these files, but this is the more complicated removal option. The same goes for the IE extension. You can modify the Start Page value data under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main, as well as change the URL and TopResultURL values under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{0633EE93-D776-472f-A0FF-E1416B8B2E3A}, but there is a quicker way.

If you find Search.yourradionow.com installed on Internet Explorer, all you need to do is uninstall the unwanted program (Your Radio Now). If the hijacker has corrupted Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, all you need to do is delete the unwanted extension. If you perform these steps successfully, you will not need to worry about the removal of files or registry entries. The best part is that Search.yourradionow.com leaves no leftovers behind. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that you will not need to delete third-party programs or their leftovers. If you are afraid you cannot locate all potential threats manually, rely on a trustworthy malware scanner to do this job for you. You can use our database to find removal guides for any infection, but we advise using automated malware removal software if extremely dangerous or complex infections are found.
