Filmate-search.com

Filmate-search.com is a Google Chrome extension that provides you with an unreliable search engine. Once it is installed, it changes your homepage to filmate-search.com and your default search engine to mqr.boxo-search.com. The results you may be introduced to by this search engine might not always be trusted as they might expose you to potentially unreliable third-party websites. We have found that this search engine mainly targets computer users in the Mexico region. But it does not mean that your computer cannot be infected with this tool. Even if your preferred browser is Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, or any other, there is still a possibility that you might find this extension in your Chrome browser without your installing it knowingly. While this search engine may not be the most dangerous infection, it is still not advisable to keep it on board. We recommend that you remove Filmate-search.com before you find yourself on questionable websites downloading more malware infections or being scammed by criminals in other ways.

It is possible to download this application from the Chrome web store, but, unfortunately, even that cannot be an indication of reliability. There may be thousands of extensions in that store that have not been reviewed yet. It means that once reviewed, this extension may also be blocked as has been the fate of many other extensions that prove to be fake or potentially harmful. However, this is not the only way you can install this questionable tool. We have noticed that this search engine may be promoted by pop-up advertisements if either your computer is infected with adware or you visit a shady website. Clicking on these ads can result in installing this extension. So, if you find this tool in your Chrome browser, chances are there are other malware infections on board, too. If you have noticed third-party banner and pop-up ads lately, that could be a clear sign of the presence of adware. Such infections usually arrive in freeware bundles that can be packed with a bunch of malware infections. You are better off deleting Filmate-search.com and running a full system malware scan in order to see what else is threatening your system security.

This search engine offers you a quasi-toolbar with a few quick links to film-related sites, such as IMDb and YouTube. If you perform a web search, this page will redirect you to mqr.boxo-search.com; however, the results might be manipulated to include affiliated third-party links and ads. Since there is never guarantee that these third parties are trustworthy at all, you might end up on unreliable websites by clicking on these results. Therefore, we advise you to stay away from the third-party services this engine offers you to stay on the safe side. It is best to remove Filmate-search.com from you browser if you do not want to risk landing on questionable sites run by criminals.

Although this extension has no uninstaller in Control Panel, it is still quite easy to make it go away. Since it changes your homepage and search engine settings as well, resetting Chrome should solve this issue. Please follow our instructions below if you are not confident how to do that. Since the malware scan may find other infections as well on your computer, we advise you to use a decent antimalware application that can detect and remove all known threats and protect your PC from similar attacks.
