Danger level 3
Type: Potentially Unwanted Application

SpringFiles

If you often download various files from the Internet, you may want to have a download manager application that would allow you to organize and manage your files in an efficient manner. We would think twice before installing SpringFiles because we are not sure whether the program can really help you. In fact, this application is categorized as a potentially unwanted program because of its distribution and behavioral patterns. If you did not intend to have this application installed on your PC, you surely have to remove SpringFiles immediately because an uninvited program is always a problem. And the worst is that problems do not travel alone.

According to our research data, we have dealt with a similar application before. Our security experts say that SpringFiles is practically the same as ExpressFiles, which is yet another potentially unwanted download manager. However, while ExpressFiles could have been downloaded from its official homepage, we cannot really do the same with SpringFiles. Although the website itself can be easily accessed via spring-file.com, clicking the download button does not initiate the actual download. You will only be redirected to an error page. This would suggest that it is not possible to download the program directly, and yet there are still many users who happen to have SpringFiles on their computers.

That is not surprising, however, because potentially unwanted programs are often distributed in software packages. This means that SpringFiles was installed on your computer with some other application you have recently downloaded from a file-sharing website. On top of that, even if you were to launch an actual SpringFiles installer, the program itself would offer you many other additional applications. During our tests, we have found that the program offers to install adware and even browser hijackers, which is why we are confident in categorizing SpringFiles as a potentially unwanted program. After all, who would want to have adware on her computer?

Now, as far as the main function of SpringFiles is concerned, you cannot place your bets on that either. The program itself should function a little bit like a torrent client, although it is a direct download manager. You should be able to find files via the program itself, but entering main search keywords into the SpringFiles search box. However, this function does not seem to work properly. On top of that, the program may also display dodgy ads that could lead to suspicious websites.

To take everything into account, this program may not be your next best friend. It usually enters your PC without your permission, does not perform its functions properly, and exposes you to potentially harmful third-party content. It sure does not sound like fun, now does it? Therefore, you will do yourself a favor if you remove SpringFiles right now.

Although it is possible to uninstall SpringFiles via Control Panel, the program may leave some leftovers in the Windows Registry. It might be hard to terminate these leftover entries on your own, especially if you are not too sure how your system works. In such a case, please get yourself a trustworthy antispyware program that would help you scan your PC and delete all the remaining files and entries. You need to do everything you can to avoid potential security threats.
