BigGameCountdown Toolbar

BigGameCountdown Toolbar is yet another browser extension from the MindSpark family. We have been dealing with similar applications for quite some time now, and we know exactly what to do with this potential computer security threat. For one, you should remove BigGameCountdown Toolbar from your computer if happen to have it running on your system. The side effects of this application most certainly outweigh any useful function this browser extension might offer. Not to mention that there are cases when users do not know how BigGameCountdown Toolbar managed to get into their systems. If that is your case as well, than you most definitely have to get rid of this application ASAP.

Users do not notice how BigGameCountdown Toolbar gets installed on their computers when this application is distributed in software packages. Software packages or software bundles are one of the most common methods of adware and freeware distribution these days. Setup files are often hosted on file sharing websites, torrent pages and even random sites that, at first glance, have nothing in common with BigGameCountdown Toolbar or any other adware program. However, it is very common for adware-related websites to display annoying pop-ups that offer you to purchase something at a lower price or download a program upgrade immediately. By clicking these unreliable links you end up with BigGameCountdown Toolbar on your computer. In fact, you are lucky if it is just this toolbar and several adware applications that get installed on your system. In the worst-case scenario, you might get infected with a severe malware threat as well!

Truth to be told, BigGameCountdown Toolbar could also be distributed through its official website. Just like any other MindSpark application (like EmailFanatic Toolbar, BestBackground Toolbar, ActionClassicGames Toolbar, etc.), this application has a homepage via biggamecountdown.com. Although it is very unlikely that the users would download this toolbar directly, this is the site where the application informs users about all the additional features. For example, the Ask Search engine.

When users install BigGameCountdown Toolbar bundled with freeware applications, they usually go with the full setup and, as a result, this modifies their default homepage and search engine. If you are not aware of these changes, it might seem that BigGameCountdown Toolbar is something akin to a browser hijacker, but here we would like to say that unless you allow these modifications to take place, the toolbar would never affect your default settings.

Nevertheless, it does not mean that you should keep this application on your computer. It may not intend to infect you with malware, but it is known to display third-party advertisements that could be embedded with corrupted outgoing links. Eventually, this could lead to personally non-identifiable information leak, and you would end up being involved in online marketing schemes, some of which could be quite shady.

If you care about your system security and your financial stability (and you most certainly do), please remove BigGameCountdown Toolbar from your system right now. We provided manual removal instructions below this description, but you have to remember that this browser extension may not be the only potentially unwanted application on-board. Hence, you should scan your PC with a computer security tool to make sure that all the unwanted programs get deleted at once.
