CrypVault

CrypVault is another name of VaultCrypt ransomware. It is known that TrendMicro antivirus recognizes this threat by such a name. If you also use it and it has already detected CrypVault on your computer, it is very likely that this infection has managed to enter your system. Actually, we think that you will soon notice if this happens because this infection encrypts various files. Even though it is mainly targeted at Russian computer users, it has been noticed that it might infect computers of those users that live in Europe or the USA as well. If you think that this threat has already managed to enter your system, you should remove it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it is impossible to remove CrypVault via Control Panel, which means that you will probably not be able to do that yourself. If you want to find out how to remove CrypVault, make sure that you read through this article from beginning to end.

Researchers working at pcthreat.com have found out that CrypVault will encrypt files with such extensions as .rtf, .dwg, .cd, .mdb, .dbf, .jpg, .zip, and others. It is likely that it will add the .vault extension to the names of the encrypted files and it will even change the icons of these files. If you already see a lock instead of a regular icon, there is no doubt that you have encountered CrypVault. Research has also shown that an alert stating that the file has been “Stored in Vault” will appear if you double-click on an encrypted file. The alert also says that you have to visit restoredz4xpmuqr.onion in order to receive the key. Actually, there is no point in visiting this website because you will undoubtedly be asked to pay a particular sum of money in order to decrypt your files. We do not recommend doing that because you might not receive the key for unlocking your files and you will transfer your money to cyber criminals.

If you do not want to pay money to cyber criminals, you can easily restore your files via the backup. If you do not have a backup, you can try using one of the file recovery tools (e.g. Photorec, Recuva, and R-Studio) available on the web. As can be seen, ransomware infections are very serious, so it is better not to allow them to enter your system. You will not be able to prevent them from entering the system yourself, so you should definitely install an antimalware tool on your computer. As there are many security tools available on the Internet, it might be difficult to decide which one to install. If you are interested in our opinion, we believe that SpyHunter is the best tool.

In order to fully remove CrypVault from your system, you should scan your computer with an antimalware scanner; however, it has to be mentioned that this ransomware infection encrypts users’ files and then removes almost all of its files from the system. Keep in mind that other serious threats might be present as well, so it is very important that you remove them all as quickly as possible. If you scan your PC with SpyHunter or another reliable tool, it will remove all the existing infections for you. In addition, your system will be protected from various future threats.
