MPlayerX is classified as an adware program, even though it is promoted as a multi-functional player that allows you to play all types of media files on your Mac computer. Unfortunately, we do not recommend keeping MPlayerX on your system. This application is known to display third-party advertisements that do not allow you to operate your computer properly. In the long term, the ads may also expose you to potentially corrupted content. Therefore, it is in your best interests to remove MPlayerX from your computer as soon as possible. Do not keep this application just because it says it is good.
The official homepage for MPlayerX is located at mplayer.org. The website provides you with the most basic information on this application, and you can download the application there as well. On the other hand, we can assume that MPlayerX sometimes comes bundled with additional freeware applications, too. This means that the official homepage is not the primary distribution source. After all, who would want to install an application that displays constant advertisements? Definitely, no one. Before you know it, you would be scrambling for an adware removal method.
If we take a closer look at the official player’s website, we can notice some suspicious points immediately. Even though the website claims that MPlayerX can play almost anything in a “smooth playback,” the fact that there is an advertisement banner on the site, displaying a third-party ad, should be enough to make you hesitate before you click the Download button.
Users are often lured into downloading MPlayerX, rapt by its innovative features. For example, MPlayerX says that it no longer needs bothersome keyboard shortcuts. The information provided on the website claims that you can control the playback with “pinch, tap or swipe.” In other words, the keyboard shortcuts and mouse cursor are no longer necessary because MPlayerX “will follow your gestures.”
The question is, however, whether MPlayerX is really useful enough to tolerate all of its sideline features. Why would you use a player that displays commercial ads when you can have one without them? We believe that it would be for the best to remove MPlayerX from your computer and then scan it with a legitimate antispyware application.
There is a chance you have downloaded more than just one unwanted application on your computer. Please follow the instructions below to uninstall MPlayerX, and then resort to using a third-party uninstaller if you think that manual removal is not enough to terminate this program for good.
