PopDeals is an adware application that is based on JustPlugIt engine. It gets installed on your computer when you download freeware applications from third-party file sharing websites. PopDeals does not have a direct download link, so quite often users are not aware that they have this application on their computers until it starts displaying commercial advertisements. It is in your best interests to remove PopDeals from the system, as this adware application is not reliable, and malevolent third parties could exploit it to display and promote corrupted content related to malware distribution.

Users often think that adware applications are malicious infections, but that is not the case. You may not notice when or how you install PopDeals on your computer, but this program does not enter the system surreptitiously. PopDeals is very similar to other applications from the semi-random name adware family. Based on its distribution method and behavior, PopDeals is practically identical to CouponBuilder, RealDeal, SaveOn, and many other applications from the same group. These adware programs employ third-party installers for their distribution. PopDeals often spreads via InstallRex installer, but it may also be distributed by Vittalia and Amonetize installers (based on your location, and the websites you visit).

Another common feature of adware programs from this group is that they randomize their names upon installation. Hence, the entry on the list of installed programs may not exactly be PopDeals, but you will recognize this program nevertheless, because the application simply capitalize or add some letters at random. PopDeals will also add extensions to Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer web browsers. According to our research, the newest Google Chrome versions should block PopDeals extension, but it does not mean that the application disappears – its files remain on your system.

When the application is up and running; it starts to tracking your web browsing history. Later on, PopDeals makes use of the collected data to generate commercial advertisements on eBay, Amazon, BestBuy and other commercial websites. The problem is that PopDeals outsource ad content from third-party advertising networks, so most of the ads cannot be even trusted. Hence, if you click a corrupted ad, you could end up landing on a malicious websites that promotes and distributes malware.
