WinGuard 0.2

WinGuard 0.2 is an adware application that is identical to SecurityUtility. Some users may confuse it with Winguard Pro, but they have nothing in common because Winguard Pro is legitimate password management software. WinGuard 0.2, on the other hand, enters computers with an intention to redirect users to pay-per-click websites. It does that in order to make money for its creators. If you are not careful enough, you could end up being infected with malware. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to remove WinGuard 0.2 from the system as soon as possible. Adware applications should be taken seriously.

This application has been active since November 2013. Judging from its name, one would think that WinGuard 0.2 is there to protect you from various cyber threats. However, the reality is that this application simply displays commercial advertisements whenever you access popular online shopping malls. Although the program’s EULA says that WinGuard 0.2 has been made in Egypt, it is highly doubtful because we have encountered similar applications before. WebCheck, WebEnhance and the aforementioned SecurtiyUtility are the previous versions of this application, and each supposedly was made in Egypt, but the country’s name in the EULA is misspelled. It clearly makes one doubt the credibility of the program.

It is possible to download WinGuard 0.2 from the official website via win1guard.net, but it far more often arrives bundled with freeware applications. Most of the time, users do not even realize they install WinGuard 0.2 onto their computers. Based on our security research, when it comes to bundled downloads, WinGuard 0.2 usually gets distributed via Amonetize installer for German IP addresses. The application may arrive with OffersWizard, RemarkIt, Plus-HD, Wajam, Surf Safely, and many other unwanted applications. It means that when one adware enters the system, you can be sure that some other programs will get installed on your PC as well.

WinGuard 0.2 is more annoying than dangerous. It usually displays commercial ads when you access eBay, Amazon or any other popular online store. These ads are supposed to display coupon deals and discount offers, but we do not recommend clicking any of them. WinGuard 0.2 does not review what kinds of links get embedded into its ads. It means that even malevolent third parties can embed their content into WinGuard ads, and if you click it, you automatically make money for adware creators AND you could get exposed to potentially dangerous website.

Therefore, remove WinGuard 0.2 right now and then scan your computer with SpyHunter free scanner. You need to make sure that you have no other adware applications on board. If you need a reliable program that would protect your PC from harm, invest in a licensed antispyware tool.
