ShopDrop

ShopDrop is one of the many adware applications that try to pass for useful browser extensions. This particular browser add-on tries to make an impression that it can help you find optimal deals when you shop online. It says that with ShopDrop you can enjoy fast and cheap online shopping. However, that is not exactly true because this application is more interested in generating financial profit for its creators. You need to remove ShopDrop from the system if you are concerned about your PC’s security, and you do not want adware programs exposing you to corrupted third parties.

To tell you the truth, we know what you expect of ShopDrop because we have dealt with similar applications countless of times. This program usually arrives onto target computer via DomalQ installers. It may have an official homepage at shopdrop.info, but the download button on the official site simply redirects you to Google Web Store. Thus, bundled freeware downloads are the main distribution method for ShopDrop, and users need to be extremely careful when they download programs from third-party file hosting websites. Software setup files from such pages often have more than just one program inside of them.

ShopDrop is not the only program that exhibits such distribution and infection features. In fact, it comes from a big group of adware programs that are known to randomize their name upon the installation. The list of programs includes such names as CoupExtension, DealEXpresss, Websaver and others. There are two types of applications from this group – one promises to help you save money online, and the other tries to persuade you that they can block ads on online video streaming sites. ShopDrop is obviously the former, and it also generates its name at random upon the installation. Our research team has come across at least four variants so far, including SHopDROp, ShopiDrop, SHopuDrop, ShoPPDrop.

This application affects all main browsers although the newest versions of Chrome block ShopDrop automatically. With the extension installed on your browser, you will experience a never-ending flow of commercial ads and random pop-ups on websites that are related to online shopping. The problem is that these ads and pop-ups are often embedded with third-party content that ShopDrop does not review. Thus, this way the application might unintentionally expose users to online marketing schemes and even malware distribution networks.

Thus, you should take adware programs seriously and remove ShopDrop from the system the moment you can. Since this program usually gets installed together with a number of other undesirable applications, be sure to scan your PC with SpyHunter free scanner. You need to determine all the potential system threats and get rid of them immediately. Also, if you have any questions about ShopDrop or your computer’s security in general, do not hesitate to leave us a comment.
