Adpeak

Adpeak is a general term for adware applications that come from Adware Inc. developer. There is an extensive list of potentially unwanted applications developed by Adpeak and the list includes CouponAmazing, Scorpion Saver, GetSavin and so on. That is not to say that the Adpeak applications are malicious. They are definitely not computer infections, but the fact that they make use of third party advertising networks is slightly alarming. Hence, if you have any Adpeak program installed on your computer, it would be for the best to uninstall it and then scan your computer with a licensed antimalware tool.

On the surface it might seem that any program from the Adpeak family is a useful application because they are supposed to help you save money on your purchases online. Most of the time, Adpeak programs display coupons and discount offers whenever you browser popular online shopping malls, such as eBay or Amazon. The pop-ups and commercial ads that you see on your screen present you with information relevant to your usual web searches. It means that Adpeak collects information on your web browsing habits in order to provide you with relevant content.

In reality, there are a lot of applications that behave that way, and that is far from being illegal especially as you allow for the information to be collected. You might even not realize it during the installation, but in general any application from Adpeak Inc. is supposed to introduce you to its Privacy Policy which does state that:

[Program name] collects information through cookies and web beacons about your web browsing activities such as the address of the page you are visiting, the address of the referrer page you previously visited, the time you are viewing the page, your browsing environment and your display settings <…>

The problem lies in the fact that Adpeak cannot ensure that all the information collected will be handled safely. Naturally, no application from the group has an intention to harm you, but they also cooperate with third parties in order to provide you with the coupon content and THAT is exactly the most troublesome part of it. Malevolent third parties might exploit Adpeak application to display corrupted content, and since no adware app review the third party content, it cannot be held responsible for whatever happens when you click a hijacked ad.

If you accidentally click an advertisement that has a corrupted outgoing link, you could end up landing on a dangerous website that distributes malware. That is the main reason why users are strongly advised to uninstall any freeware application from their computers that might be exchanging data with third parties for better “performance”. Run a full system scan with SpyHunter free scanner and then delete Adpeak application from your computer for good. You can also uninstall a program manually via Control Panel, if you know exactly which program to remove.
