SpeedUpMyComputer

There are a lot of computer programs that are very far from being malware threats, but then again their advantages are highly questionable. Take SpeedUpMyComputer for example. It is a computer program that is promoted as a useful tool, developed by SmartTweak Software to improve your system performance. According to the official site at smarttweak.us, the tool is “designed to increase the speed of your computer to the highest level possible”. Unfortunately, more often than not, SpeedUpMyComputer comes bundled with freeware that users do not like, and as a result, it gets labeled as a potentially unwanted program as well.

Luckily, since SpeedUpMyComputer is not a malicious computer infection it is very easy to uninstall it via Windows Control Panel. Also, take note of all the other extensions and applications that might have come with the program. Some users say that it comes with Delta Search toolbar, but, for example, if you download SpeedUpMyComputer from Software Informer or Cnet.com, it is very likely that you will also install Movies Toolbar and Ask.com search engine automatically. Naturally, it is possible to choose NOT to change your browser settings, but users very often go through the installation wizard automatically, thinking that everything they install on their PCs is absolutely safe.

That is not to say that SpeedUpMyComputer is dangerous, although it could prove to be extremely annoying, as it constantly performs a full system scan and then claims that you have multiple registry errors, system resource issues, network problems, RAM and CPU issues and so on. It is very likely that SpeedUpMyComputer will display a list of issues even if there are none. Here is an example of such pop-up notification about the status of your computer:

Warning
SpeedUpMyComputer has found problem issues on your computer.
Number of problem issues: 99
We strongly recommend fixing them by clicking the “Fix All Issues” button, since problem issues may affect the system performance and stability.

Of course, one of the main reasons why you are urged to “fix” all the issues is money. SpeedUpMyComputer requires you to purchase the full version of the program in order to solve various issues present in your system. It is up to you whether you want to register SpeedUpMyComputer or not, but this program is not classified as potentially unwanted application for nothing. Security experts recommend investing in a multi-functional antimalware tool rather than one computer optimization program that covers only a limited scope of system optimization.

If you no longer want to have SpeedUpMyComputer on your computer, you can simply uninstall it via Control Panel. Do not forget to remove all the additional programs that arrived with the program as well. If you are not sure which applications are supposed to be removed, scan your PC with SpyHunter free scanner and the list of potentially unwanted programs will be displayed to you immediately. Acquire a powerful antimalware tool to protect your system from harm.
